Shame on Pat Summit for ending this series. She should be questioned continuously in the coming week by the press as to why she stopped the series. If it was because UCONN got Maya Moore and Tenn. did not, let her say so.

"UConn coach Geno Auriemma countered that there weren't many "relevant" games during the regular season."

That is why many teams don't want to play UCONN.

When UCONN cheated and had the recruiting violations they lowered the bar of integrity.

I must have missed it--when did UCONN "cheat and have recruiting violations"? A Huskie fan. Someone needs a course in comprehensive reading.

Even though I am SICK AND TIRED of reading about Geno/Pat UConn/UT as rivals etc. I read this. I did not miss seeing them play against each other, IF they face each other in the final, well, can't matter, it's a future thing, who cares, the opponent is the opponent and Stanford and LSU are both formidible. My interest was the viewer numbers and I started thinking... where is Mr. Taft with his nonsense spiel about 'nobody watches women's basketball'...

As usual Pat's fans think Geno is Darth Vader and Geno's think Pat is an evil Witch.
Both are tremendous coaches and Both should have great respect for the jobs they have done at their schools. They both recruit the same players and hate to loose one of these players to the other.
If, in fact Geno arranged a visit for Maya to ESPN, this may be a minor NCAA violation, but is none the less a violation which tipped the ever so slightly scale in Geno's favor.
That is the differencce. Pat Summitt has too much respect for the game to violate any kind of NCAA rule, while Geno has too much respect for GENO!, and if you don't agree just read your own newspapers about Geno's EGO!

WELL, LOOK AT THE PAT/GENO SITUATION---STIRRING UP SOOO MUCH CONVERSATION. I GUESS IT'S GOOD /BECAUSE THE FANS GET RILLED UP. (I DID). TWO MORE GAMES TO PLAY - ONLY ONE STANDING. GUESS WHO. I WANT TO THANK ESPN FOR ALLOWING US DIE HARD FANS TO WATCH THE GAMES, THANK-YOU. THE MAYA MOORE SITUATION WAS NOT A VIOLATION, SO STOP REPEATING OLD HISTORY, AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE, AND STOP THE NAME CALLING., YOU CAN BE SUED. FAIR WARNING.ENJOY THE GAMES THIS WEEKEND ,AND IF YOUR FAVORITE TEAMS WINS, SAY I TOLD YOU SO. GO HUSKIES.

UConn had many worthy opponents this year from Rutgers to LSU. They don't need the Tennessee contest with their whiney coach, Pat Summit. Wait!! Isn't that Dianna and Sue Bird taking Candice Parker for a ride?

So, do you have a statue of Pat Summitt that you prayer to every day?

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Do you have ironclad first hand knowledge that Tennessee has never commited a violation or is it just opinion?

No one has a bigger EGO than Pat Summit and if you don't believe me just go and ask her. What bothers her is the fact that Tennessee is not the one team dominating NCAA women basketball. The rivalry was a big deal; a contest between two premier programs. That's when trouble started as Geno's team began beating UT on several occassions and, especially, for the championship games. Pat Summit did not like that, ONE BIT. This fact is proven in her going after Maya Moore and UConn for arranging a tour of ESPN. OMG, he cheated, they cheated was the cry from UT, SEC and several of the Tenn fans who can't see the same offenses when ol' Pat distributes t-shirts to HS prospects with their names stenciled on the shit. Give me a break.

Only the sports writers really care after all this time. Do you truthfully start a conversation every day lamenting about the lack of a regular season UCONN - Tennessee basketball game. it only comes up anymore because od the sports page's relentless writing about it.

For Jim in Tennessee, you might explain how to explayers playing in Russia at the time managed to give miss Moore a ride in their car as Pat's accused them of? Pat Summit is a great coach, but for you to maintain that She has never ever violated a recruiting rule is a bit of a stretch. If you had said she or her staff never has broken a major rule, you might be beleivable. If you said she or her staff had never knowingly broken a rule you might be beleived. If you maintain she and her staff have never broken a rule you are a fool!

All I can say is "bring on Tennessee!" Even if Uconn is fortunate enough to win against Stanford, I honestly don't believe Tennessee is going to win against LSU and Big Syl, the SEC player of the year. TN is a "one woman show" and even if Parker's shoulder is fine, LSU and their 8 seniors are going to take them out, so we can all enjoy a championship game NOT having to listen to all that CP crap. Even some commentators state that Sylvia Fowles could be the #1 pick in the draft!

Pat Summit doesn't have to 'explain' why she chose to stop playing UCONN. It's clear to anyone with an operable brain cell that she got sick and tired of being humiliated every January. Ideally we'll be able to offer her another taste of it in April.

I'm wondering how much potential market draw should play in scheduling, particularly during the playoffs. For example, only about 5,000 were in attendance in North Carolina. If the game were played somewhere in the northeast - like Madison Square Garden - that figure would have been tripled. Also, MSG would be a bigger draw for any televised game. Just wondering...

Finally, a demonstration of a sense of humor in all of this.
