pat is becoming bill belicheck and geno is eric mangini and every other coach who has to deal with a strange coach of a very successful team.geno may be an arrogant little twit but pat is the one looking like a crybaby this time.maybe she is afraid to lose to uconn during the regular season and is hoping for a 1 game victory in the tourney.

Great article, as always from Chris. Pat is a sore loser - she was the big kahuna beating not so great teams until Geno came along. I hope Tenn NEVER gets to play UCONN again. It's a privelage she does not deserve. ESPN folks should be ashamed of their behavior.

Chris (and Geno): get over it, move on, turn your calendar to 2008. Whining for months and months, that Pat Summitt doesn't want to play UConn anymore, just makes you sound pathetic.

Carol, You live on the other side of the country. How are you even able to say this with confidence. If you lived in CT, you would have a clearer picture as to how little Geno has commented on this issue. Google for an article where he declined an requested interview from ESPN to talk about the lack of a game. Also notice that reporters refer back to the same year old tired quote.

Canceling the premeire women's college basketball game for no(if not no,what?) apparent reason, Pat Summit indeed looks petty. I can't wait until April tosee how she handles herself when Geno's Huskies dismantle her Vols once again for the champoinship.

I'm sure Pat Summit, coach of the reigning NCAA champs, would be surprised and amused to hear you call her a "sore LOSER." How can that be, given the fact that Tennessee won the NCAA tournament last year? This is what passes for "journalism" in Connecticut?

I mean, I know you have to be a "homer" to some extent, but have some self-respect and integrity; your bigger allegiance is to the profession, not some bully of a coach.

Get over it, U-Con(victs). You got busted breaking the rules. This is just the tip of the iceberg, I'm sure.

I remember the days when there was no NCAA womens' game, and the Lady Vols played in our smallest gym, court enclosed by two rows of folding metal chairs. The central figure courtside was a rangy, dark-haired Pat Head{Summit}, and years later, the rest is history.
I'll make you a deal.......If you can believe that no matter how great a coach Geno might be, he'll never catch the GREATEST-EVER in the "W"
column.........I'll give you this one...Candace Parker hasn't changed the face of womens' college basketball. Diana Turasi(sp.) already did that !!!!
And if we do play in the Final Four, I guarantee Alexis Hornbuckle can {more} than handle Maya Moore.

volfan - "We forgot to tell you, Pat Summitt runs the clock."

We know Pat runs the clock - we saw the Rutgers game that UT "won".(stop the clock with .02 left, then score for another 5 seconds)

ucon fans.....QUIT WHINNING! Nobody takes up for cheaters except OTHER CHEATERS! You want to know who is the smartest and classiest coach.........look at the final four in 08. Geno had no answer for Stanford, and they got blistered (actually run out of the gym)! If anybody could figure out a way to dismantle that Stanford offense, it was Coach Summitt and her staff. Tennessee will not win everytime, but if you have to bet money, you better lay it on the orange. As for class, you don't have to run your mouth, when you can shut your opponents up on the court!
