Tennessee Detailed Suspicion Of UConn Recruiting In 2006

The depth of Tennessee's suspicion over the recruiting practices of the UConn women 's basketball program, a concern that apparently broke the back of the sport's most influential series last June, was first ... Full Story

If that is all they found under the microscope of the investigation, then they did not find anything. A mountain out of a mole hill. Sore losers in a recruiting competition. They should not tarnish their outstanding reputation with such trivia. Cancel the seaon's series, but do not cast stones at UCONN.

Perhaps Tennessee has a valid complaint. Coach Geno Auriemma already has a history of thinking he is special & allowed to violate the law. Just take a look at his two violations of using the HOV lane & getting angry when stopped by the State Police, demanding to know if they knew who he was. Perhaps he feels the rules don't apply to him in recruiting as well.

They won; UConn lost --- game over. Now bring back the rivalry and let's get on with the sport.

Women's hoops needs Geno. He's indirectly done more for Pat Summitt than she could have ever done for herself.

That picture of Summitt proves, once and for all, what I've always known to be true. She's an alien...a whiny, crybaby, sore loser ALIEN.

When will Pat ever stop crying. She she just stay with her ladies and keep her ugly mouth shut. They won their championship, maybe their last one for a while.

That's it? And after all of that, the only thing UConn did wrong was pick up the phone and determine that there was a free tour available at ESPN's facilities? Just how petty can Pat Summitt and Tennessee get?

The fact is that Geno Auriemma has never broken the rules in more than two decades as head coach. He's scrupulously abided by the rules, and Queen Pat just can't handle the fact that he's beating her fair and square. She's ticked off because she realized that her top player was about to graduate and if Geno got Maya Moore, it would be UConn ruling the roost for four years. And just to show that she doesn't have either the integrity or the honesty to back up her charges, Queen Pat kept them all secret, implying that Geno had done something heinous, and smearing him with her silence.

This article should have pointed out that neither Sue Bird nore Diana Taurasi did what she charged, having been in Russia at the time.

Let's face it: Geno's the class act; Pat's not.

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. BTW Pat it would appear that the Lady Vols are free to do everything Geno/Uconn did that you said were outside the rules, in 2006. Why don't you try your own event and see if you can draw a crowd instead of carping behind the scene. There should be enough X Lady Vols to help you with the event. BTW DO NOT schedule any ESPN tours for anyone as that is a SERIOUS thingy.

I wonder if Pat ever got a recruit a tour of the Food Network HQ in K-ville?

I've toured there and ESPN, and it's a wash.

Let's see: Tennessee offers recruits the chance to be part of a team for four years while UConn offers recruits the chance to be part of a team for four years and part of a family for life. Pat Summit thinks this is cheating? It is cheating. It is cheating the recruits that end up picking Tennessee.
Geno should thank Pat. Exposing this pettiness is going to help UConn's recruiting for years to come.

Pompous, arrogant and indifferent. Believes he is above the law and carries himself like he's something special. He's a legend in his own mind. I wouldn't be surprised what Geno did for a championship. Imagine if Joe Torre had his attitude?

Imagine? Joe who? The Dodgers coach? Okay...whatever.

Anyway, like it or not, Geno IS a legend. A GREAT coach. He IS something special. Special people do what he does. That's why there are so few of them.

A legend? For what? Is girl's basketball a real sport? Special peopld do what he does? What does he do? Defy the laws of common people and act arrogant as all get out? Few of them? I'm happy there's few of them. If every coach acted as arrogant as Geno, sports would have a stench to it. Oh, and by the way, Geno couldn't carry Torre's jock to the locker room you moron. If you wish to quantify who Joe Torre is, check out his yearly salary against Geno's. Not even in the same league of professional sports. As far as his success, he's been fortunate enough to have people that put him on the map (i.e. Sales, Turasi, Lobo, etc) So, you go and follow him around you Geno Groupie. I hope he doesn't stop short and you end up breaking your nose or chin.
