Full story: Hartford Courant

They are conference neighbors, cordial at picnics and school functions, but always aware of what the other is doing, thinking, saying and plotting.

"I wish we were playing at noon, like we did [Sunday against Old Dominion in the Sweet 16]," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "I think sitting around until 9 and figuring out what to do with the day will be hard. I know this can't come soon enough. We've been waiting since last year at this time [when UConn lost to LSU in the Elite Eight] and I'm just thrilled that we have the opportunity to be back again."

He's not talking like a winner. Making excuses already?

Something smells about this seeding.
Uconn is No.1. How did Rutgers fall to No.8? Pat Summit making out the schedule? So, not only does Rutgers get jobbed in Tennesee by the stopping clock but that loss gets them Uconn? Two teams of this caliber in the same league should not be meeting in a regional final period.

It's beyond unfair to both teams to meet in an elite 8 game. Tenn was given a cup cake schedule to enable them to get to the Final Four. UConn said they are confident and ready to play, so it is their to win or lose.

Tenn. is always put in the easiest bracket. Go back year after year and they always have the easiest schedule of the elite teams. You can never convince me that Pat Summit doesn't receive preferential treatment. Every time UConn won the tournament they earned it by beating the best. They have never had an easy ride.

It doesn't matter what the rest of the country thinks. I live in Utah where they sell ou the 20,000 seat Huntsman Center for Univ. of Utah gymnastics and BYU volleyeball gets thousands. What matters is the WE care and Rutgers cares. This is a blast! And who cares about seeding. To be the best you have to beat everyone anyway. And when UConn cuts down the nets in a week there will be no one who can say anythin g about how our team got there.

I do hope, though, that what with the #2 seeds LSU and Stamford beating the #1 seeds, North Carolina and Maryland, yesterday, that that is not an omen.

But here, for what it's worth, is my prediction:

UCONN will eke out a 5-point victory over Rutgers!

Whatever, it will be, nevertheless, a super-good game to watch!

I hope Rutgers doesn't try to take out Maya Moore like they did in the last game. Pretty dirty players if you ask me.
Go UCONN !!!!!!!!!
