Does anyone have any rumors on why Geno benched Lorin Dixon? I know she doesn't shoot much and agree that Swanier is the ideal partner for Montgomery in the back court for the NCAA run, but will the total wood-time shake Dixon's confidence and retard her growth into a starting role next season? What caused her total fall from grace? Dixon sure seems like she gives it her all on the court, although out here in Oregon I only get to listen to the games that aren't on ESPN, so maybe I'm missing something?

I have wondered the same thing and I think it has something to do with her work ethic in practice. Geno knows who he can play mental games with. Besides, if she doesn't fit she can transfer as others have in the past. I think things will be fine next year and Dixon will have learned her lesson. I'm in Utah and in the same boat as you with getting the games. We do have the girls coming out here to play BYU in Provo next November, though! That should be an interesting game for 30 seconds.

One story was that Dixon had to be sent back to the campus to take an exam and since it wasn't time for exams, it looks like she has academic problems. And, as anyone knows that follows the UCONN women, you go to class and excel or you don't play for Geno.

Thanks John on the great article on UConn most important guards---they are great and so was this story..

Don't know what took Geno so long to recognize the greatness of this dynamic duo!!!

Just wondering-----Next year and the one one beyond, who will run the UConn squad?? Dixon has a great upside and if she starts scoring she may be one of the best--but does she have an attitude???

I can't see Geno using Eleania(??) Della Donne in the Guard position at her size. Are any of the incoming players smart and scorers enough to run this team??

Thanks again, John---give us more like this before we are done for the year!!

As a UMass-Boston grad who lives in northern Mississippi, I am also intrigued why Dixon is not playing. It seems that blowouts would have been an opportune time to get her some playing time in the tournament should she be needed during the Final Four. I am all for punishment, but not overkill. She and Tina Charles went to the same high school. I would hate to see them transfer; together they could transform a program into an immediate power. I hope Gino knows what he is doing.
