If no harm was intended ,why did the girls use chemicals for their so- call "plank"--why not water or jucies that would not hurt anyone. The question is--what did they think was going to happen if the chemicals in their bomb exploded near someone? As hard as it is to believe--this was not a practical joke--it was anything but that. And for the police or coaches or anyone else, for that matter, to use the term practical joke in the same sentance with chemical bomb is kidding themselves.

Unfortunately, young adults don't always use their best judgement. It was a prank. Why not use juice Juan? Because it won't mix with Milk and form a chemical reaction that will cause a large bang. It wasn't meant to hurt anyone. It could have yes, if someone had walked close by. But we're not talking a chemical weapon like Iraq has used. This wasn't mustard gas, it was an experiment you can learn in your college chemistry class. They just used very poor judgement and are paying the price. C'mon Juan, get off your high horse...there are no skeletons in your closet? Mistakes in judgement you made when you were 18 or 19?

Haven't people been arrested since 9/11 for just using the word "bomb" in airports and other public areas? Would the "average college kid prankster" know how to make a bomb? I would guess there was some research into this process at some point and doesn't that prove premeditation? No one in this day and age puts bomb and joke into the same sentence. At very least these girls should lose their scholarships and put some thought into how to pay for their college educations like the rest of us!

The media has used the words "bomb" and "prank" in the same thought. The players saw something amazing in a basic science lab, something casually used to build attention and interest in the chem lab, and decided to share it with a friend in a COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE manner. They were stupid and careless and thoughtless. "Let's string 'em up!", however, may be inappropriate.
