It's not like he choked a player or anything.

Phone calls peeople! He's a haard worker and rules about phone calls were meant to be completely ignored. Let me do what he wants. Hell he can pay players and threaten to kill recruits if they don't attend, just as long as we win basetball games!

Go IU! Best in land

Geez, are we still talking about the 10 phone calls? Slow news day?
Shall we go back and talk about punching cops in Puerto Rico, tossing chairs across a floor, pulling a team off the floor in an exhibition game, star players (and coaches sons) getting a drunk and disorderly, coaches choking players, cussing, pounding fists on scorers tables, etc....?
They've *never* stopped talking about Knight's incidents, and it's been decades. This is still hot news, especially since the NCAA will be handing down its sanctions soon. Don't hate on the Star just because your coach is a cheater.

They talk about Knight's incidents because they were substantially more serious and embarassing to the university than making too many phone calls. They talk about Knight's incidents because the suddenly holier than thou fan base looked the other way and even publicly supported Knight when he physically abused players, students, police officers, opposing fans, and university employees. Frankly, the holier than thou fan base comes off as more than a little hypocritical when they praise Knight while acting as if phone calls is the highest crime known to man.

I'm amazed at the nonsense being posted here as meaningful. "....rules about phone calls meant to be ignored." Give me a break. If that was so, the NCAA wouldn't have people doing investigations and wouldn't have imposed penalties on Coach Scofflaw before he left Oklahoma.

And it's not "10 phone calls"...it's a long history of not thinking the rules are important enough to follow.

And all the stuff the hanger's on still have stuck in their craw about Coach Knight has no bearing on this situation at all. None.

Pay attention, apparently this has escaped a lot of people. The NCAA made rules about phone calls in an attempt to keep the recruiting wars between colleges as fair and even as possible. Scofflaw doesn't appear interested in playing by rules of the oversight that is in place. He had paid a price. He will likely pay more yet. And sadly, because of the apparent idiocy of Rick Greenspan, Indiana University will pay a price also. In fact, they already have....they gave up a scholarship.

Thanks, Rick. Thanks Coach Scofflaw. It's almost like those two guys were sent to Bloomington to bring the program down.

the NCAA made dem rules just to shut up all those rinky dink programs that don't have a chance in the werld of winning anyways. They never wanted to inforce them! It was just politicks. Rules about phone calls doen't apply to IU pereod! ya got that?!

Coach Sampson gonna hang more banters in Assemmbly Hall than Bobby, and that makes some people madder than a fire ant in a tick farm.

What a shame that Eric Gordon won't ever play in a post season NCAA tournament.

This is a chance for IU to 'educate' their student body on the subject of Business Ethics. If they don't fire Sampson, then they're teaching our children that 'Cheating' is OK and undermining IU's credibility in the process!!!
Please, teach our children that cheating is wrong.
Right. And just what did BK teach our kids? That swearing, chair throwing, temper tantrums, assaulting players is OK? Give me a break. Our Kids see worse behavior every time they turn on the TV or play a video game.

Really! Not Ever? UUUMMM Try tuning into the Big Ten Tournament... then watch as they will be a 2-4 seed in the Big Dance. Count on it!

Bob Knight likes to shoot at his neighbor's houses down in Texas. Apparently if they don't ask him in a sing-song baby talk pleading voice, then it makes him mad! You don't want to make Bob Knight mad when he has a gun in his hand or he might shoot himself.

I just wish Mike Davis would come back. At least we didn't have a cheater at the helm!

The IU basketball program is becoming a shell of what it once was. Who cares about W's when everyone sees you as a cheater. Leave the Fab5's for Michigan.

I think the poster was refering to the fact that the NCAA might have issued the post season ban by then, not that IU isn't good enough to make it.

I hope that this years IU team doesn't go the way of Minnesota, where their tournament success doesn't exist because of penalties. Then again, IU did this to themselves...
