Many, many thanks to the wonderful, compassionate doctors, staff, and volunteers of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. Your tireless efforts have given hope and solid results to so many. Special thanks to the late Dr. Bernard Brucker, a founder of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis (An Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, and Radiology at UM's Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Brucker was an innovative clinician and developer of the world renowned Brucker Method. He was the past President of the Division of Rehabilitation Psychology of the American Psychological Association and the recent past Chairman of the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Advisory Council for the State of Florida. Dr. Brucker was the President of the Academy of Rehabilitation Psychology and President of the Florida Brain Injury Association. He also held the Chair of the Ventilator Dependent Rehabilitation Task Force of the Florida. Heiser Presidential Award from the American Psychological Association. Dr. Brucker was one of the founders and the original CoDirector of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis). Dr. Brucker spoke so highly of his associates, and the strong spirit and will of those seeking the physical, functional ability. Dr. Brucker, your efforts will never be forgotten by those whose lives you touched.

I began praying for Kevin when the injury occured. Kevin's recovery is nothing short of a miralce. I will continue to pray that Kevin will find purpose in life. I am not certain where he is in this respect. Having a real purpose in life is true healing.

Another Florida native that is now paralized is Darell Gwynn. He was a star in the world of drag racing when he crashed in an exibition match in London,England. He lost his left arm and is paralized from the chest down. We can only hope and pray that he and Mark can some day get out their wheel chairs like Kevin!

That video of Kevin walking is stunning!

What a tremendous series of events starting with Buffalo's team doctor being at Dr Dietrich's seminar and him being bold enough to apply the hypothermia method.

I want to know if the HS's, NCAA & NFL are mandating funds for training & supplies required for this field application?

Dave Hyde, Sports Humanitarian. After the third loss, you will be writing articles about why Shannaon is not the guy to Coach the "canes. He is in over his head. Its for his own good that he should resign or be fired. Sports fans, CANE'S fans, remember I told you this is going to happen. I have watched him do it to Don Shula, Jimmy Johnson, Dave Wannstadt, Renee Lachman, John Boles, Jack McKeon, Doug McClain, Butch Davis, Larry Coker, and now, Randy Shannon. He starts out dripping honey, but Hyde always ends up spewing poison at the local Coaches.

The honeymoon is over. There will be no more exuses for year three right?
I predict a 6-4 season at best.
Larry Coker, Don Strock, and Luis Cristobal are better coachs than Shannon. Its OK though, the U is passe since Shalayla took over.

Shannon is clearly not the answer and the sooner he is fired the sooner Miami can progress. This defensive "guru" has fallen flat on his defensive face and failed to provide leadership, recruiting, or even to get along with his players and fellow coaches. The Marve situation was totally botched. He needs to be gone for UM to restore to its glory years.

I believe in Randy, we have the same talent level now at the FR and SO level as UF, OU,UT,USC, its just our Sr's and most JR's are what Dave says, mid round . SO, UF did step up with a young team, but they had 2 playmakers thats really all U need with a good team, harvin,tebow---look back at all the good teams, when we were good in 00-03, dorsey, willis, others were in heisman voting. Last yr, mccoy, bradford, tebow, well, all 3 of those teams could have played for title. If we get 2-3 playmakers become stars, we are back, I hope its JH, 1 of these RB's, and 1 of the Stud WR"s. thats all we need. the other talent is in place. Good luck Coach

I surely don't expect Miami to be playing for a national championship in '09; however, they should be in the top tier of the A.C.C. If they don't win the conference, they should be serious contenders. You're right, we graduates have little patience. All we know right now is Shannon can recruit, he's yet to prove anything on the field in terms of (1) surrounded himself with an able staff, and (2) making quick, strategic decisions that can turn a game around. The "statute of limitations" is 3 yrs @ Miami.
