Building permits

Full story: El Paso Times

If it were one of those Broadway plays, they could take it on the road E run through it in Connecticut and get all those little miscues and kinks and flat out mistakes out of their system.

Optimism, and high expectations for this football season were in full bloom and display prior to kickoff Saturday evening against Buffalo!
Then, reality sets in, the reality that UTEP just can't recruit the quality athletes that it requires to have at least a half decent successful year!
Judging by the bonehead plays and miscues that UTEP is famous for, the trend will obviously continue.
How can UTEP ever field a winning team, when all they get are the scraps that the USC's, the Notre Dames', the Texas', leave behind for schools such as UTEP?

Coaches game plan great, last minute drive fantastic, players #74 and #78 miscues (come on boys-get a clue) UTEP should be 1-0 and feeling good about the Kansas game.
Dropped ball are game killers. Here is a question,If you have a player who receive back to back penalties why tolerate that nonsense. Discipline, discipline.

I dont agree with you monchis, Utep has quality players for the future, and texas is not sunny calif, with its sights and sounds. Players will go to schools they are suited for academically and also where they will play. Some players go to the USCs and Texas powers and never see the field in four years. I as a coach know this as fact, whats important is for UTEP to limit the micues of the past and not repeat them. P.S. Did you ever play the game of football?

Tristhewwiz, UTEP has quality players for the future? What future?
Let me ask you a question, what is the preseason, and all the practicing and conditioning for then, if not to try and correct mistakes and make adjustments?
Players should have known better than to throw the ball into the stands and celebrating after the last minute touchdown! They know, or should have known full well that that is not allowed in college!
When do you learn not to hold? Not to go off sides? One UTEP lineman made the same mistakes three times!
A half decent center or snapper doesn't throw the ball over the punters' nor the QB's head!
Oh, optimism, you are so blind!
We would love to have those players that go to USC, Texas and so on, even if they don't get to play a single down! They would still be better than what UTEP recruits now, by far!
You as coach should know full well that you need not only physically talented players but smart players as well!
Coach Price has talked up the recruits he has now, yet they continue to say that they need to improve in the same areas, year in and year out, why?
The players themselves say, "we need to get better at tackling, stop the mistakes", and so on, and so on,....... get the picture? But they don't improve, why?
They have actually gotten worse as witnessed by last Saturdays' performance.
When will they improve on making the same bonehead mistakes?
I witnessed UTEP players being pushed around as if they were rag dolls, unable to push the much bigger and stronger Buffalo players back!
The time should have been here and now, whenUTEP should have been able to compete and beat a so so team such as Buffalo, they're not Kansas!
Give me a break!
The same tired and lame excuses don't wash with us long time fans any longer! We've been witness to these bonehead mistakes for way too long!
We see the light and it's not a very bright one at that!
Get ready for yet another year in the long line of UTEP miscues, losses, and excuses!
