Full story: Hartford Courant

I believe Auriemma lost his love for Charde a few years ago. Unfortunately in the world of basketball, if someone comes along that's better than you, you get pushed to the side. It's up to you to regain what you lost but that can be difficult to do when all you read or hear is negative things about youself and some of these things are being said by your own coach.

When does a beautiful game simply become a chore or an unwelcome burden? Perhaps Charde is simply pushing back against a world that had placed heavy demands, with extremely high expectations, on her athletic ability.
Somewhere along the way she lost the excitement and love for the sport. She does no display a passion for the game or a zest for the best athletic competition.
It would appear she has adopted the "lunch pail" mentality and is simply putting in her required time. I hope I'm wrong, as much as I would like to see her very best effort. This wish is not for Uconn (they can win without her), this wish is for the person, that is, Charde Houston. If only wishes would come true?

John:

I read your blog and columns on a regular basis, enjoy almost all. This one on Charde, I know everyone wants Charde to be all she can be, and she has the potential to be among he best ever at UConn. But, I just feel this is one that is between Geno and Charde.

I recently purchased a pure breed pup. She was 12 weeks old when I got her. Apparently, she was sold once and brought back. From what we see apparently her first owner thought frightening her and abusing her was the right way to train her. She is a whirlwind, a will o the wisp, a special pooch. She is the most pleasure able sweetheart
and wants to please. But stamp your foot, or raise your voice, or try to get her in the kitchen and she'll hide.
She[d stay hidden and when she comes out she is a dull different girl.

Seems to me there are similarities. I believe that my girl will come around with proper treatment, understanding, and a lot of love.

I want Charde to know she has hundreds of fans who are behind her and love her for who she is, not what she does or dosen't do. I believe in Charde, I hope she knows it.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Libra

It's another day when tensions are rife and you feel stretched to breaking point. You might even totally lose your temper with someone, instead of merely snapping at them as you did yesterday. Mars stomps into reverse today, so it would be better to clear the air now with a row, and then forget all about it, rather than allowing bad feelings to accumulate and fester inside you.
