That was the most embarrassing game I have ever witnessed. They completely gave up. Gillenwater was jogging back on defense just about every single time while BSU was sprinting back and would get an easy bucket. I believe at one point, Hernst or Kabongo even tried grabbing Gillenwater by the jersey and trying to pull him back but he still wouldnt run. Troy got frustrated with the refs and quit. I agree we got some pitiful calls against us but what was the worst was seeing everyone not named Kabongo not hustling or doing anything. Kabongo was the only one hustling, trying to make something happen by driving to hoop, and playing pretty good defense too. Everyone else just kept passing the ball until there were a couple of seconds left on the shot clock and then they would shoot up something from long range that wouldnt even be a good look. Turnovers, not hustling, and missed free throws will do it to you. NMSU acted like they wanted their Spring Break to be relaxing and not be playing basketball and they played like it too.

Though it ended on a sad note, congrats to Gordo on a fine 4 year stint with the Aggies.
Gordo, you've shown everyone that a local kid can have success playing D-1 basketball. Here's hoping that there are a few more gems in the local gyms and that the Aggie coaches are smart enough to notice them.

Losing 5 of the last 7 games and finishing with a losing record is a step in the wrong direction.

Reggie's recruits are officially gone and the record shows. We could have a good year next season but, at the end:
Marvin is still the coach and we will endure another slow start, sweeps to utep & unm and flirt with .500% all year long.

I'm glad the season is over. Even with out an OC, it's time for Spring football!

Althouth, I agree with you, Aggie football is in no better shape.

I watched the game up until the first media time out and was disgusted. Did not check the score again until it was 9 minutes left in the game and the Aggies were down by 20. As usual, the Aggies either barely win or get blown out on national television. What a wasted season. Thanks Gordo for 4 great years.

That was SAD. Bad basketball and poor effort. I'm sorry, but the fact that a guy as slow and awkward as Gordo is playing for us is just evidence of how low this program is right now. He is not D1 material.

Time for the NMSU President to part ways with Mezies and bring in someone who coaches with enthusiasm, someone who makes the players dig deep and find their power, someone who is not afraid to to get the best out of a player....No, it's not Menzies.....

First on the Gordo comments, given his limited athleticism, he really did play fairly well the last few games of the season. Wish he would have had a better career, but I think he competed at D1. Having so many players around him with a low basketball IQ, has limited him though.

Now on the game last night, its embarrasing to see the aggies trying to run offensive sets. They simply cant, and for whtever reason, everyone was reluctant to shoot. On one play, Gillenwater was quadruple teamed down low, and he correctly found a wide open aggie at the top of the key, who completely passed up the shot. Our offensive play calling consisted of the aggies spreading the floor, and Kabongo going one on one from the top of the key.

Kabongo is a nice player, and for stretches, he was the only one that looked like he knew the game, and wanted to win. He'll be a good one, if he can quit the attitude a little bit. I hope somebody will pull him aside and tell him to get grounded. Its annoying to see him celebrate and make funny faces and body language after every basket he makes.

Now,where do the Aggies go from here? Menzies can no longer use the "wait til march" motto next year if the aggies get off to a slow start. Next year will define Menzies, and let us know the state of our basketball program. I believe it will be his first full senior class, playing with all of his players, under his system. The aggies still need to get tough inside, and find a way to replace Gordo's outside shooting. I'm not super optimistic for next year. Minus Gordo, the roster will look almost the same, as will the coaching. I hope one of the guys gaining eligibility is a stud, but given what I've seen from Menzies recruits, I doubt it. The scary thing is that after next year, Troy, Big Wen, Laroche, and Rahman will all be gone. Can anybody envision what our team will be like with only the rest of the players on the court?

Fire MM NOW!!!!!!! Everyone coming back next year except Gordo,,,,Now that is sometning to look forward to...Players that run around the floor looking totally lost!!!! 7 footers that cannot dunk,,,,,, guards that cannot hit the broad side of a barn,,,,,and only one or two true basketball players,,,,,led by a couch that seems clueless most of the time.....

Getting double swept by the Blows and Slimers,,,,,,AGAIN!!!!
But,,,,wait,,,wait,,,,remember it is all about Conference play!!!! 8-8 or 9-8 in the NEW and SINKING WAC,,,,,,,oh,,,but wait,,,wait,,,we can always win the Conf Tourney,,,,,,

SAme old song and dance,,,,,,,,,

Menies is just a terrible coach, he does not have what it takes to take us were we need to go with this team, he does not bring spark to the team or fire them up let alone give them real plays to run the floor he is just fail and we know it.

No Intensity, NO motivation, NO sense of urgency, NO demonstrable display of basketball knowledge as a whole, NO display of a coaching strategy to win. We were Out-Coached...once again!! This time by a FIRST year coach!! But we will wait again for next year for the conference games to start and hope like Hell "we'll be OK"... REALLY!!??

While I agree last night was hard to swollow, you're going to the fire the coach card way to quick if you ask me. He just got us to the tournamnent last year and damn near beat Michigan state. Next year will tell us a lot and hopefully we can stay healthly thats was a big problem this year. We lost McKines for the entire year, glillenwarter for a bunch of games early in the year, i think hamadu was never fullly healthy and he didn't even play the last few games. Those are three key assets to the aggie team and it's hard to combat those losses. All those guys will be back next year as will most of this team. What we do need is someone new to run the point, Larouche looked really bad last night and had a pretty rough year. So I say give Marvin one more year and then we can talk about the whole firing thing.

NMSU should reconsider doing away with their Basketball and Football Programs. Both have been embarrassing to this fine community. The althletes that have been given scholarships to these two programs, consider themselves a Privliged And Above the Law mediocre performers. I say "GET RID" of these programs and put the MONEY to BETTER USE: "ACADEMICS" end this EMBARRASMENT NMSU REGENTS.

We should take a hard look at that coach who got Northern Colo. to the NCAA! And he recruited that hot shooting little guard locally in Colo.

Seriously? Youre willing to give up on LaRoche who was the most consistent player all season and has been a solid player for three years but youre asking people to not give up on Menzies. Wow.....Also, coaches show what they are made of when they dont have a perfect team around them. Im not saying fire Menzies now but if you are going to defend him please dont say give him a chance when everything is nice and comfy but forgive him when things are hard.Thats the point of being a coach, that you will experience good year and bad. The bad years define who you are, not the good ones. Hamidu was a non factor before he got injured and Gillenwater being injured did not excuse his lazy play throughout the season. Maybe you would have a better argument if you learned how to spell, its HEALTHY and GILLEWANTER
