The problem with NMSU football is INSTITUTIONAL. Maybe we need a pool. The winner will be the one who gets closest to picking the date when the A.D. starts making "BLAME THE COACH" noises. Once upon a time Boise was just like NMSU, a doormat. They changed......we still do the same things as an INSTITUTION.....while hoping for a different result. This is the sad part.

It has always been this bad and will always be this bad or worse. UNM & NMSU seriously should drop football. Their programs are poor, pitiful, pathetic & puny. Why bother? Put the few dollars that the schools have into something worthwhile. Everyone in Southern New Mexico is either Texas Tech or Texas fans anyway so who cares.

Walker has to get rid of two things... Mumme left a losing attitude with this team and Walker is too good a coach to allow his players to keep that attitude. So get rid of the Mumme mentality now. Second. get rid of the QB Christian. He is terrible. I dont know why he was even in the game. Im sorry he got hurt, but time to try out someone new. Rust wasnt so impressive but he came in late so give him or Manley the freshman a shot. Christian cant complete a pass and you cant blame it on the receivers. Hes throwing it over their heads, too low, too far, no where near. And that running a small back into a crowd of players is ridiculous too. We dont have a big back so nix that play. I may not know a lot about football, but I enjoy watching it and I know what bad is. And right now, this team has some really good players (#47, #36, #94, #91, #90 on the D all looked impressive), just some bad ones and bad plays too.

I think we need to steal some more money allocated to the NMSU library and give it to Walker. It seems the right thing to do.

" NMSU has been bad on offense and defense all year"

No actually they have been bad on everything, for much longer. close the cr4p football program and send the overpaid drunkoaches packing. then build some PARKING and hire some profs with experience in their field.

New Mexico has nothing to offer for todays players, out state players watch MTV<etc. they see glamour at south beach,Los angeles, etc. new mexico is not a mecca for good athletes or beautiful women, never has been, regardless of who coaches,in plain english drop football in the entire state.

From a BSU fan, it all starts with mentality. It sounds like your new coach is a good one. It takes awhile to get rid of "We're going to lose" to "We might just have a chance" and as your program grows it changes to "We think we can win" and "We know we can win". Give this Walker guy a chance. Hal Mumme was a joke at Kentucky and at NMSU. Walker should walk onto the practice field Monday and say if you don't think you can win get off the field. Akey basically did that up at Idaho and they are starting to win games that they couldn't before. It all starts with attitude. Best of luck against New Mexico! It's a starting point to a brighter future!

NMSU Football is like fixing an old, worn out car. Why do they keep putting good money on a bad situation. Cut your losses, drop the program. Hire a good soccer coach and swimming coach. Attract student athletes from the region and quit paying so much money for coaches who can't attract quality players due to a systemic problem of losing and losing and losing.

I have to agree with the last line in this article: "Still, seeing it was sad. Right now, the Aggies don't pass as a Division I team." I would expand on it, NMSU has not been a Division I team in quite some time. It is time for NMSU to really focus on what matters and having a Division I team is not it. Still, the administration is blind to this fact, good money is being invested in a losing proposition and it will continue to be pour down the drain for a football program that is the laughing stock of the nation. That was the commentary on ESPN last night for this game. Is that the kind of exposure that we want for NMSU? Apparently the answer is yes. We do not need a football program, even paying the penalty to the WAC for canceling the football program is better than continuing to throw money at this program. I know that this opinion would not sway anybody in the Administration, thus, we will continue to see NMSU being clobbered by other teams. Only when people actually stop attending these so called "games", and the NCAA is forced to revoke Division I status to NMSU would something actually happen.
