Randy is being his own worst enemy creating this situation much before the season starts. He has already created a controversy instead of saying, we will see who wins the job.
He now has to play politics with what he said and if he does not do it then he is going to be know as a political waffler.......... He should wait until all training camp and the season is ready to start and decide based on performance. Maybe one guy is better and deserves it but now Randy has said differently without having a clue as to how these guys will do in games. I GUESS THAT THE GREATES NEWS IS THAT WRIGHT IS GONE FOREVER........ What a destruction he created at the QB position........ |
The old saying goes that if you have/play two qb's, then you really don't have one....I agree w/ the comment above that Coach Shannon seems not to be learning from last year's debacle...and that was with two qb's w/some seasoning/experience....He needs to let summer/spring ball play out and then name a definitive starter...He's trying not to discourage the other two or have one transfer.....Either way, not good..
Oh, now for the good news...... Second week------UF 54 the "u" 00 F |

Right now we don't have a quarterback who as thrown a pass in a collegiate game. Giving at least 2 QB's gametime experience is the right thing to do. Shannon said that a starter will emerge, but that the backup still needs to get experience. He never said we were going to a 2 QB system where they alternate series or quarters, etc. He also specifically said the QB position wouldn't be played by a "platoon". The backup is always one play away from being the starter. Giving all the reps to only one QB puts us in the position of having to start a completely inexperienced backup if the starter goes down. Hopefully all 3 will get some experience if the gameplay allows. We can thank Coker and a car accident for putting us in this position.

And to the Gator fans criticizing Shannon and quoting cliche's, UF utilized a true 2 QB system on their way to the 2006 NC. Ironic...

Monty these gaytors have nothing better to do then to make comments about UM.Their football team has sucked for so many years they feel there the kings when honestly they aren't anything but Queens. They hide behind their computers because they aren't man enough to say a word to your face. Especially gaytors Rulz the little sissy. Shannon is doing what he thinks is right at this time for the good of the players and it is what it is. We have 2 kids that are very good. Oh ya UM 28-17 over the almighty walk on water sissy boys from gainesville.
This coming from the guy who comments after EVERY Gator article. Hilarious!

Please try and write/sound somewhat intelligent if possible....The Canes are going to walk into the Swamp with no experience at QB, facing a Heisman trophy winner at QB in his "house" and you actually believe your prediction??? You obviously are too emotional and/or know absolutely nothing about college football.....probably both....You'll beat College of Charleston by that score, but not the Gators...please... |
We're going to stink up the joint this year too.
And if you asked me a few years ago if Brock Berlin could come back from down 3 td's i would say no chance inhell. And we were underdogs the year before that, and destroyed the gators in the almighty swamp. Will the gators be heavy favorites? Of course, but they play the game for a reason and it wont take a seasoned veteran QB to exploit the gators secondary. |
Why don't the gator fans go to the gainesville newspaper and comment there.
Cane fans understand we are still rebuilding and last year Randy had absolutely no where to turn. Wright and Freeman were terrible football players. Coker left the cubbard bare. I completely agree with playing two qb's this year. The kids are green and they need to get game experience so if something does happen to the starter we keep on truckin. 5-7 was a long time ago already. Randy is still a young head coach and needs to learn. This year will have some really rough times but they will be better for it in the long run. Go Canes! |
Hey Gator fans...you have a short, selective memory...didn't Tebow share the QB spot his first season? Seems the Gators did fairly well that year. |
True, but the difference is that Chris Leak was a seasoned starter already, and Tebow was getting "seasoned" slowly..The Canes inexperience at QB doesen't afford them the same opportunity....One of those unproven guys is going to have to show "something" in game situations or the flip flopping to find the "hot guy" will kill the young guys confidence, and divide the team along "party" lines (I think he should start etc...) Ask Xavier Lee (formerly) of fsu how easy it is to perform when you know one bad pass or two and your getting yanked..... |
Shannon never said or implied he was going to "flip flop" the QB's. He said one would emerge as the starter, but the other would get gametime experience. He never expanded on that statement and there are no indications that he plans to rotate the QB's every other series or quarter or anything like that. Reading Comprehension 101, anyone?

Something tells me this could be the year for "Thug U"...ending up in the top 10 for sure. |

The Canes are still a couple of years and two solid recruiting classes away from being a top 10 team. It took Butch Davis 3 or 4 seasons to turn it around.

Could be the average number of teeth each local fan has. |

Why do we always have so many Gator fans on these sites? We don't play them every year (and we probably won't play them after this season. I know they are going to find someway to get out of that 2013 game. They only play us when forced to, or when they think they can smack us around.) I never go to Gator sites and talk smack to them.
Gator fans always act like a bunch of spoiled children IMHO. |
