Raiders Coach Tom Cable is one of "them." He once played their positions. He still looks the part, and he acts and thinks the way they do.

It's really a tough decision because you have a chance at "cream of the crop OTs" and unlike when we drafted Gallery, we actually have a good OL coaching program in place and I believe they would mature. However with Mario Henderson showing signs of life last season and the additions of Kahlif Barnes and Erik Pears, we apparently have good competition at the position. It's like Lane Kiffin said last year when drafting McFadden, "We are pretty well stacked at the RB position (with Fargas, Bush, Rhodes, and Jordan)and we've got a lot of pressing needs elsewhere that can be addressed, but a guy like McFadden rarely comes around." Plus Cable has mentioned that the draft is full of OTs and could get a good quality one in a later round that would be capable of starting. I honestly think BJ Raji is the answer we've been looking for at DT for quite some time now and he and Tommy Kelly would make a killer combination. Stopping the run has been a major issue for us for a long time and it starts in the front 4. Kirk Morrison's name has come up a lot with that issue but you NEVER EVER blame such a thing on the man who has lead your team in tackles ever since he joined it...Some of them may have been on the fly but at least he caught them. I also think WR Michael Crabtree would be a major compliment to our offense allowing Johnnie Lee Higgins to focus on Punt returns, but with the signs of life Higgins and Chaz Schilens showed late last season, I don't see WR as a top priority but like at OT, there is a good crop of them so in a later round would there would be a nice addition. Ironically, the best DTs (when it comes to stopping the run) both come from Boston College with Raji projected as a first rounder and Ron Brace as a second rounder. I HIGHLY THINK IT WOULD BE TO OUR ADVANTAGE TO GET ONE OF THEM BECAUSE DT HAS BEEN A PRESSING NEED FOR US FOR A LONG TIME AND WE ARE LONG OVERDUE!!! Michael Crabtree will be hard to pass on and WR Jeremy Maclin has been projected to be taken by us too and Cable really likes the top 4 OTs in the draft, but I think DT is our biggest priority right now and I see it very neccesary to take either Raji in round 1 or Brace in round 2.

If the Raiders select a lineman with their first pick I am going to be a Steelers fan. Al don't screw up.

Though Crabtree and Machlin are 'needs' for the team, WRs are generally fickle as high picks. The fact that virtually no one in the Big 12 plays D makes me worry about their ability to get the kind of separation an NFL WR needs to be able to attain... and the main reason Russell has looked horrid at times.

Raji may not be the solution either, though DT was a need last year too and it looks like we might have dodged a bullet with Glen Dorsey. Touted offensive linemen are generally safe calls... and even in Gallery's defense, he is probably one of the best guards in the NFL, though he was drafted for the more glamorous tackle position... if you can call any line spot glamorous.

I would take the best prospect OT on the board at the time... or, if I wanted a WR, trade it to Arizona for Anquan Boldin. I KNOW he plays ball, and he doesn't take downs off. He isn't a team cancer either... like Moss was. I mean we can get Q for our 1st and 4th probably, given the quality of pick we got in round one.

Of course, I'll be totally wrong and we wont even draft need... we'll take the best USC linebacker on the board and call it a day.

Good tackles available if raiders want one but they dont. They want Crabcakes who will cry like T.O. once he plays with JaFake-us. That is unless the Browns stains don't get him.

Harvin and Tate would make good raiders. Both have baggage already and bring their own bongs to the game.

'AL DAVIS' are you always a hater... or is that your weekday job? Crabtree has never had a rep of being a 'whiner'... I supposed you like the Chefs, Donkeys or Overrated Electricity.

Do everyone a favor an save the snark. I was actually curious to hear what actual fans had to say about the upcoming draft and the direction the Raiders would go. Harvin may have been a fit for Oakland in the 70s... or even 2-3 years ago, but thats not the direction the team is going now. Besides - anyone STUPID enough to flunk a drug test when they were a VERY borderline first round pick is too stupid to be paid.

A punter or a long snapper round 1. It is a tough choice.

What a douche (hater 'Al Davis')! Anyhow, I think Nnamdi may be right about us needed an explosive WR... all the more reason to pull the trigger on the Boldin deal. As a Florida State alum - I know Anquan is quality... and the 2 guys on the board at our #7 spot feel like Peter Warrick to me. If they came from the SEC or ACC... even Big 10... I could say they have a strong chance of making the transition to the pros. Big 12 - last couple of years - not so much.

On the contrary. The visionary Al Davis was wise enough to draft Ray Guy, who is widely regarded as the greatest punter the game has ever seen. Guy changed the way the game is played with his field- position changing hang-time, and pin-point accuracy. Will be the first punter inducted into the Hall of Fame. Will likely be presented by the real Al Davis, who has presented more players than anyone else. No wonder you want to be Al.

Captain Canada:

With all due respect... we have the game's best punter, a kicker who set an NFL overtime record hitting from 57 yards... and regularly clears 60 yards (missed a 72 yarder wide right in high school).'Al Doofus' is just being a contrarian. I had no issues with the REAL Al Davis' call on Janikowski... I went to FSU - when I was there Jano put 3 kickoffs thru the uprights against GT one year... freak of nature. I think he could have gotten him in the second round, but that was our biggest need that year, and he was the best kicker coming out in over a decade. As far as long snappers go - Satele was being groomed for that in Miami already. We may go for a center, but not in the first 2 rounds.

Thanks Raider Joe. I was responding to "Doofus Al's" sad attempt to criticize Al's decision to draft the only punter in history to be taken in the first round. Lechler is currently making a case to overtake Guy as the best punter in NFL history. SeaBass "The Polish Cannon", is truly a freak of nature kicker, who is overdue to break the longest field goal record in NFL history.
