Conn's Appliances

John you might still check on contacting a credit repair company because the last thing you want to do is go to court. First off you will still owe the $$$ then court cost. What they will do is contact Conn's plus any of your other creditors and pay them off whatever they settle, then you pay them whatever you come up with. Now you won't be able to get any credit for about 18 months. Then you can start off with a high risk credit card (you know 50.00 activation fee, 59.00 yearly fee 24% interest.) Then maybe try to get 2 gas cards charge one tank a month and pay the bill when it comes in. After about two years of that your credit should be alot better. Don't give Conn's your bank account number because they will tell you whatever and take the 7 months, late charges out, and don't try to fight Conn's on your own you are little john trying to fight a major corporation. At least try to contact the credit repair service.

I just want to add my complaint about Conn's Appliances to this to help warn people about this shady operation. I bought a refrigerator from Conn's and they forgot to send me the payment book. When it came time for me to make my first payment, I called them and asked them for the amount and to send me a statement. They told me they would send me the payment book. In the meantime, they asked me to make a payment over the phone which I agreed to do but the problem is that they went into my bank account and took not only the amount we agreed upon but something they called a late fee. We never talked about a late fee since it was their fault they did not send me the payment book. The point is I never agreed to any addition amount beyond the specific amount of the monthly payment. In the meantime, they reported me to the Credit Bureau as a late payment in spite of the fact that I agreed and made the payment. It seems they had some kind of internal mix up inside the screwed up Conn's operation where the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing or something like that. I have been disputing this with them for five months now. They refuse to admit they were wrong to go into my bank account and take more money than I authorized. I notified them to never go into my bank account again as I was rescinding any and all authorization giving Conn's any access to my bank account. They have retaliated by refusing to correct the bad marks they put on my credit. They refuse to admit they were wrong to take money I did not authorize from my bank account. I have had at least a couple of dozen phone calls with them and they are rude and disrespectful. They make all kinds of threats that stop very short of being illegal. They have called my house at all times of the day, numerous times to try and inconvenience me. They call on Saturdays and Sundays. They call early in the morning and late at night. They harass and threat by leaving messages on my answering machine that give the impression of being from "Conn's Corporate Offices" or from "Conn's Legal Department". In their message they lead me to believe they are going to work this issue out with me but when I talk to them they refuse to say specifically that they will correct and resolve anything specific. They use pressure tactics. They even sent me a bill saying I am being penalized by raising the total amount of the refrigerator up an additional $275.00. The past Sunday ("Sunday") they left a flier on my door threatening more legal action leading to repossession. They did this while I was inside my home hosting company. This CONN's APPLIANCES is a mean, vile, dirty, vicious and ruthless company. The name Conn's fits them perfectly because they ought to be behind bars somewhere. Now that I am researching complaints against them on the internet, I want to warn other potential victims to take these complaints seriously. Like they say, let the buyer beware when dealing with the cons at Conn's Appliances.
I have not had good experience with CONN's either. THEY ARE A CONN! They didnt properly install my new dishwasher and it got damaged. They finally brought a new one, and the original installer left the electrical wires laying on the floor. I could have been electrocuted should any water or moisture touched those wires!!

My icemaker wasnt making ice correcly, and they claimed that my water line to the fridge was on the wrong side causing the problem. THAT IS A CROCK! They have NO customer service, and the company is run by a bunch of rednecks!!

YOu are all correct that they do nothing to make things right. Perhaps a class-action lawsuit against them is in order! Write to ALL of the credit bureaus telling them what happened, and they have 30 days to respond for correction, and if they dont BY LAW they have to REMOVE all derogatory statements from your record. Would be worth getting a lawyer after them!

I am waiting for a repair person to fix a frig, I bought and had delivered friday, here it is Tuesday and it needs work. When they installed it they broke my Main water connection at the city, now I am waiting for a plumber refund. I will go visit them in the store, I have a reputation for that, and it wont be pretty.

Conns customer service has gone down lately. Many of the delivery drivers and repair people are leaving for better paying jobs because Conns will not reach into their deep pockets to pay these people so yes customer service is lacking and will continue. But please if you have a complaint because you are behind on a payment and being harassed it should be an embarassment to you to even post that complaint.
what do you cosider BEHIND on a payment???
I was called 6 times in 24 hours on a payment that clearly states on my payment cupon book that was not considered a late payment until the 14th of the month....I was called on the 10th six times, and one more time after I spoke IN PERSON to the the 'customer service representative'....she actually called me back to harrass me AGAIN....now mind you, I HAVE NEVER BEEN past the first date due, which is the 4th of the month, but this last month, I had an unexpected HUGE expense ($2000) that I had to handle. My payroll check came on the following Friday, and the actual LATE DATE on the cupon says the 14th (at which time a late fee is levied)....so tell me, mr.-I -love-conns-sis-boom-bah, how is SIX phone calls in 24 hours NOT HARRASSMENT, on a payment that is five business days past first due date, and NOT technically late until the 14th????
I am curious what you would say to a customer like me who has NEVER Been past due, ever....and who also PAID CASH of $3000 for a plasma tv an dvd system with this same company.....
apparently, they do not understand 'customer service'....what they seem to understand is harrassment...
What they also don't understand is EVERY ONE of my phone calls has been recorded....perhaps the attorney general for the State of TExas would like to hear how Conns treats their customers....even the ones who are paying ON TIME!!

Annie you signed a contract saying you would make your payment on or before the 4th of every month. On the fifth it is late they may not charge a fee till the 14th but it is still late. Now they have every right to call and harass you till you march yourself in there and make your payment, the proper thing for them to do would be to of made a note that you will be in there on the 14th to pay it so when the others are looking at the record they won't call you but you are right they don't understand customer service they understand where is our f***ing money. So now once you pay this off you can tell them to go screw themselves and you will never be back and you will tell all your friends personally I can tell you they could care less.

We purchased a freezer from the Pearland store a month ago. When we got the freezer home it did not work, we called the store and left a message for the manager he/she never returned our call. The sales person told us we had to go through the servie dept.(Company policy) A week later a service person came out and said the compressor was bad and would have to order one from the manufacture. We had to call to see when the compressor would be in, and we were told in a week. The week came and went no phone call. We called again and were told it didn't come in and they would have to track it down and someone would return a call with in 24 hrs. We shall see......WE WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH CONN'S AGAIN!!!!!!

oh...and btw, Jay...even after I spoke last night with the 'customer service lady,' and again spoke this morning with their OWN billing department for a payoff,(and I did speak with a real human being...not electronic prompts) I GOT ANOTHER HARRASSING PHONE CALL FROM THEM LOGGED IN AT 10:36 AM WANTING TO KNOW WHEN I PLAN ON PAYING MY BILL???
I told the billing department that I would be at the local store at noon to pay off my bill...
now...is this harrassment IN YOUR VIEW???
Oh...I forgot...I signed a contract...and eventhough I have spoken to them no less than three times in 12 hours, they still feel the need to harrass me by phone four times in just as many...
go back and re-read the texas website under 'harrassment'....
it's pretty clear, Jay.

and you are right....I won't do business with them AGAIN!!
but before I leave....I plan on having an intimate little conversation with the manager today...
good luck with your un reasearched advice...
you sound like someone who works for them...

Conn's is a joke of a company. I purchased and Stove, Refrigerator, Washer & Dryer for our new home that we had purchased. Well when they stress that the appliances come with Insurance they never state that the insurance is not through them but only through the manufacturer. Well our refrigerator went out and I contacted Conn's and they told me that they couldn't do anything until the manufacturer approved them to go out to our house. So it took them a week in a half to send a tech out to see what was wrong with it, Mind you that I have a 16 month old little girl that needs bottles, Food like any other infant, and not only that she is on special medication that has to be refrigerated. None the less the tech finds and fixes the product. Well I go buy groceries and my daughters medication to replace the ones that I had to throw away and a week and 2 days later the refrigerator goes out again. This this it took Conn's 2 weeks to send a tech out. Come on that is such a joke. How do they expect a family to manage especially with my daughter that needs her medication on a day basis. When they sent a tech out they were going to have to replace the whole thing. Find that was great, but little did I know that it was going to take a other whole week and a half to come in. When the Manager finally contacted me (Which was a first because every time I talked to them I had to make the phone calls) he told me that the products was ready for me to pick up that same day. My husband and I got to the store only to find out the product is not there! WHAT A JOKE. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AND I URGE PEOPLE TO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTS FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS.

Annie they are harassing the hell out of you and they have one goal to get their payment. But turn this in to the Attorney General and see if you get anywhere because they can call you anytime between 8am and 9pm to collect a debt. If I was in charge I would first look at your payment history and if you always paid good then just do a reminder call if you didn't then I would call wanting my money, if you told me you would be in on the 15th then I would mark that in the notes and unless you hadn't paid by the 15th you wouldn't hear from me. But that isn't how Conns does it. So go ahead and tell the manager whatever you want to and don't do business with Conns again it won't phase them. BTW I live over 300 miles from the nearest Conns store so no I don't work for them but I used to years ago.

Thank you for confirming that they ARE harrassing me....
at noon today, I paid them one third of the pay off price of the non interest 'loan' on my washer dryer...it amounted to 6 times the normal payment...
guess what??? I GOT ANOTHER PHONE CALL AFTER I MADE THE PAYMENT.....
I actually watched the assistant manager call the headquaters customer service department and tell them he had my money in his hand, and he also told them to take me off the calling list...
guess they didn't listen....
that's okay...I will contact the attorney general
as for the times....
They contacted me at 1030pm last night, Jay...clearly not within the guidelines...
Conns "may not do it this way", but the law says they are bound to abide or face federal and civil penalties...

If any of you out there are going through this too, I suggest you contact the Texas Attorney General's office consumer affairs division....go to their website listed above, and take the time to file a complaint...
If enough of us complain, the AG will have to act....if that doesn't get their attention, I am prepared to let the news media know....
there's nothing like a camera rolling and a microphone in your face at 7:30 in the mornin'.....I am sure I can find the CEO at his best.....ahem.

oh...today, those losers sent me a letter demanding payment in the mail, threatening me...
the morons don't even know their own business or policies....
for a company that has been around since 1890, they leave a lot to be desired...
It's a puzzlement to me how they have survived all these years with the idiots they seem to have working in their billing and accounts receivable department...
Maybe they should consider outsourcing to INdia...
at least there, we can understand the ignorance,(no offense to Indians...just that whenever a country outsources to another country where the language barrier kicks in, it can be a challenge!)
I feel like all my conversations and actions taken this week occured in a vacuum...what a loser company.

Well Annie I am sure they sent the letter before they got the payment. One thing I hope is that you still have that no interest plan going. Anyway they are a harassing company. I am surprized that someone hasn't complained that they put in a credit application and was called by 30 people over 2 days to find out when they were coming in till the customer told them to go screw themself. Conns is about money and so are the employees. Example, the reason why these employees are calling the application customers is so they can get the sale and tell the poor sap that worked with you for two or three days...gotcha. So you are correct Conns is a harassing company but they don't care so even though they have 44 complaints with the BBB, and customers have been threating to call the AG on them it will never happen and Conns will continue to do business as it has in the past and I doubt it will close down anytime soon.

I have a complaint about Conn's wonderful credit department. I bought a flat screen on 36 month no interest then later found out that I paid about $1000.00 too much (that's another story). Well, as a responsible person, I paid on time for over a year, then for some reason I accidentally forgot to pay one month, being as busy as I am. I really thought that I had sent the payment, so I called to explain my situation. Even though I paid it on time until that point and I paid double the next month, they were rude, did not care what I had to say and said that it was business and they cannot change the rules, mistake or not. So basically I was placed in the same category as someone who doesn't make their payments and treated like I was insignificant to them as a customer. All they could say was for me to pay it off as soon as possible to avoid paying their obscenely high interest. This company is not about customer service, it's about greed and taking advantage of people. Moral of the story, forgiveness does not exist in business and I won't do business with Conn's again.

Cris you probably paid the 1000.00 to much because the salesperson put the insurances mostly property and probably just gave you the contract and said "sign here, here and here." But you are correct Cris all they are is about money. They could give a coutersy call to say you need to pay but you are correct they wanted to have a legal right to charge you 22 % interest. I would agree with Conns on one point just pay it off as quick as you can. Then don't do business with them again.
