If the number 42 works for you, great! I hope you're happy with whatever good 'ol 42 can do for you. All hail 42! Praise 42! 42.5 is heretical!
My standards are much higher than that. I propose that the purpose of the existence of the universe is for the benefit humankind, and the purpose of humankind is to coexist in a loving relationship with a superior creator.
In fact you only think you have standards, standards built on wishful thinking and mythology are not standards but delusions.

The existence of 42 as the answer to life the universe and everything has considerably more validity than belief in a Bronze Age book. 42 came from a novel of known provenance, written by one “named” and highly respected author.

On the other hand the babble can not make any such claim, particularly the OT which is comprised exclusively of carefully selected extracts of the Tanakh which was in turn written by unknown run away slaves and goat herders during the bronze and iron ages. Or for that matter the NT, which was compiled by committee from carefully selected works of unknown provenance. From the point of it’s inception it has been edited and changed to the extent that in the early 1600’s another committee re-created the babble from carefully selected extracts of all the existing copies. Guess what there are now over 50 different versions in the English language alone (who knows how many in other languages) and around 40,000 different sects of believers, each claiming that only there sect is right. High standards? Right!

What you believe does not create standards but illusion and that’s fine if you want your standards to be illusion. So just to enlighten you, the is absolutely no evidence that the universe was built for the sexual gratification of human kind and even less that that for the existence of a supreme creator.

Do you brown nose your god for miscarriages?
Do you brown nose your god for cot deaths?
Do you brown nose your god for childhood leukaemia?

Praise your evil cult.

We know you have not read the beginning and middle of the book but thanks for being honest.

Anyway, that’s besides the point, you just read the abridged version, carefully compiled and edited to suit your particular christian sensibilities. The book you read is based on the early 1600s re-write, re-written because the proliferation of different babbles and different messages was getting confusing. And then edited in 1769 to bring it up to data (??? Don’t ask me why a babble needs to be brought up to date)

Guess what, now there are over 50 (someone just told me 233) different English language versions of that re-written/re-written committee work book (who knows how many in other languages) which spawn over 40,000 different sects of believers in that one (lol) book. Each shouting that their own version is the right version

However you also need to remember that in the Jewish version (from which the OT was “selectively” copied) the Jews win and their books have not been re-written. Also in the (around) 20 or so Islamic version the Moslems win

That of course is not even mentioning the faiths that are not based on the abrahamic god who also win.

Well we know the book tells us he’s good at mass murder, child murder and spreading pestilence and disease. We know the book tells us he condones theft, slavery and rape.

Oops you only tread the last few pages so you won’t know about those atrocities. Ok so how about 200,000 people killed during the 2004 tsunami? Did you god make that?

How about the more than 1800 people killed by Katrina, is your god responsible for that?

I suppose we now have someone else to blame rather than nature, so thanks for that.

Oh I know... I don't mind carrying on, but when people start hurling insults, now that's just wrong. I actually believe that they very well may attend a church. That's sad really because it is doing them no good, but everything they do is all in the name of their "god". I say let them smear their imaginary friends name as much as they want to. It is up to them of course.
