Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

Those not capable of anything other than ad hominem, need not apply.:-)

So you reject ontology?

You see no value in discussing ontology?

In fact it is of such little import in your mind it only deserves mockery?

Does not that show a limit to your intelligence when you consider ontology not worth discussing?

I was actually engaging in an epistemological argument however...

I suppose this behaviour is actually consistent with atheism.

With no basis for morality, why would you be required to be civil and polite?

You wouldn't.

Your behaviour does not need to rise above the level of an insecure animal that feels threatened.

So you are consistent with your stated beliefs by displaying this immature hostility.

What argument are you looking for? Atheism requires no faith. Just the opposite in fact.

Glad to help.

If "atheism" can only lift people to the level of a juvenile ad hominem, then what exactly is it that it wants to offer humanity?

Is there an intelligent atheist here?

Not really. The typical topix atheist is a pseudo intellectual. The definition of a typical topix atheist includes but is not limited to the following succinct description, a perfidious rote learned obstreperous prevaricator.

You talk about civility because you are too cowardly to address the underlying point.

Juvenile theists spread the word of god, too cowardly to provide proof.

After all your stupid beliefs are that jesus rode on the backs of dinosaurs probably.

Lack of intelligent discussion does no position any good, as you are clearly displaying.

Put your emotion aside and try to engage in the discussion.

As to my beliefs, I was not aware your last point was one of them...

Why is reasoned discussion between differing views wrong?

Your question implies that it is...

As to looking for a rational debate, yes.

But it seems I have come to the wrong place.

Rather than a place to engage in erudite discussion, this seems more a place for some to practice their internet forum mugging techniques...

Yes, By observed I meant the effects of black holes. Many phenomena in nature are not observed directly, but are confirmed by their effect on their surroundings, such as gravity

we can see the swirling gas around the black hole
