Yeah, the smell of burning flesh is pleasing to the Lord.

Not in a barbecue way, either.

No worry. I'm just wondering how your belief that the universe just popped into existence is any different then a God did it belief.

You don't have to call me Lord.

Your Grace will do just fine.

Thank anyways.

Oh, that's easy. I have no such belief.

Past a certain point, I just don't know.

But everything since that point is clear evidence that the Abrahamic deity's a load of cobblers.

Oh, didn't you know that?

It's in Genesis 8.

"Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the
clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.

The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart:“Never
again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood...."

Don't you lot bother reading your own books?

Scripture?
Scripture is as useless as an ashtray on a bicycle
There is a good example Porky
And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.--Exodus 33:23
It sounds so homey and sweet, and you can imagine Dad smoking a pipe, seated next to the fireplace, while his adoring wife and children listen to him read from the Good Book.
But there's a problem with this cozy, homespun image. Dad's going to have to do a hell of a lot of speedy, judicious editing as he reads. The Bible is presented as the ultimate guide to moral principles, high standards and ethical living.
That book is everywhere, at least in the USA. You can't turn on the TV or radio or pick up a newspaper or magazine, or look in the window of a bookstore, let alone walk into one, or open a book catalogue, without being bombarded with the word "Bible."
The so-called History Channel is now featuring shows about David and Goliath and Noah's Ark, and it presents these biblical yarns as history.
It may be the world's best seller, but not one in a thousand knows what's really in it.
Pearl in Dung Syndrome.
If I must plow through piles of dung to uncover a pearl here and there, I refuse to do it.
This BuyBull is supposedly the guide to morality, inspired by a deity. Why is any of that awful stuff included in such a supposedly wonderful document?
Why does anyone have to make excuses for the filth in it?
The "context" argument does not hold. There is no moral context into which murdering babies, for example, may be inserted.
Know GOD?
"Know" nothing.
No GOD?
No Problem
I'm that one in a thousand.

And you have no idea what Exodus 33:23 means...

Your god loved the smell of human flesh being offered up to him as a burnt offering. Just read about Jephtha's daughter the sweet, god fearing little girl who's daddy tied her to an alter and burnt her to death in praise of your god. As the bible says your god loves the smell of burning flesh. Isn't it wonderful how he let that little girl be roasted alive in his name?
