Obama did not lie. His "jayvee" comment "wasn’t specifically referring to ISIL". It was made in response to a comment about events in Iraq, Syria and Africa.
Transcript, January 7, 2012, interview with New Yorker editor David Remnick:
Remnick: "You know where this is going, though. Even in the period that you’ve been on vacation in the last couple of weeks, in Iraq, in Syria, of course, in Africa, al-Qaeda is resurgent."
OBAMA: "The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant. I think there is a distinction between the capacity and reach of a bin Laden and a network that is actively planning major terrorist plots against the homeland versus jihadists who are engaged in various local power struggles and disputes, often sectarian."
AFTER Obama made that comment IN CONNECTION WITH EVENTS IN IRAQ, SYRIA AND AFRICA, the conversation shifted to ISIL and Fallujah.
Remnick: "But that JV team just took over Fallujah."
Obama: "I understand. But when you say took over Fallujah –"
Remnick: "And I don’t know for how long."
Obama: "But let’s just keep in mind, Fallujah is a profoundly conservative Sunni city in a country that, independent of anything we do, is deeply divided along sectarian lines. And how we think about terrorism has to be defined and specific enough that it doesn’t lead us to think that any horrible actions that take place around the world that are motivated in part by an extremist Islamic ideology is a direct threat to us or something that we have to wade into."
Obama did not edit his remarks. Chuck Todd took his commment out of context and misrepresented what Obama said.
"Keep in mind I wasn’t specifically referring to (Islamic State). I've said that, regionally, there were a whole series of organizations that were focused primarily locally, weren’t focused on homeland, because I think a lot of us, when we think about terrorism, the model is Osama bin Laden and 9/11." (Obama to Chuck Todd)

Polticofact states this comment by Obama is false--

Obama says comment about extremists being a JV team "wasn’t specifically referring to" Islamic State.

On Aug. 25, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest claimed Obama’s comment was being taken out of context and that the "president was not singling out" Islamic State in that interview, but rather Islamic extremist groups in general.

The Washington Post Fact-Checker compared that with the previously unreleased transcript and gave Earnest’s comment four Pinocchios, his worst rating.(For what it’s worth, Remnick told PolitiFact that the Post fact-check "got it right.")

This pretty much leaves no doubt. Obama may not have specifically said Islamic State, but it’s clear he was talking about them. Remnick was referencing events in Syria and Iraq, particularly the takeover of Fallujah, which was conducted by Islamic State, and Obama referred to the group responsible for that as "a JV team."

Our ruling

Obama said his JV comment "wasn’t specifically referring to ISIL." He was not specifically asked about Islamic State, but it’s pretty clear this is the group that was being referenced in the conversation. The transcript backs this up, as do news events from the time of the discussion.

We rate the statement False.

Democrat Handouts Are Not Guaranteed Utopia But Guaranteed Mediocrity

The August meeting of the Western Williamson County Republican Club in Texas advertised Senator Ted Cruz’s father, Reverend Rafael Cruz, as the featured speaker and a powerful example of the American Dream. The “Hour of Power” invited members and non-members to “come listen to him speak passionately on what can be done to return our nation to the principles that made America exceptional.”

Rev. Cruz told the audience that the black community needs to be educated to understand how the Democratic party uses them for their own agenda yet the Democrats do nothing to help African-Americans prosper.

Every ethnic group in America, what do they want? Growth and opportunity. They want the ability to succeed.

Now, the Democrats have been trying to sell this guaranteed Utopia. But we need to convince them that the hand-out is not a guaranteed Utopia, it’s a guaranteed mediocrity.

What we need to sell is the American Dream. We need to sell that, in this country, anybody, anybody with hard work and perseverance can achieve their wildest dreams!

Cruz relayed a conversation he had with a black pastor in Bakersfield, California.

I said, as a matter of fact,“Did you know that Civil Rights legislation was passed by Republicans? It was passed by a Republican Senate under the threat of a filibuster by the Democrats.”

“Oh, I didn’t know that.”

And then I said,“Did you know that every member of the Ku Klux Klan were Democrats from the South?”

“Oh, I didn’t know that.”

You know, they need to be educated.

Cruz recommended a book by Jason L. Riley, titled Please Stop Helping Us, that talks about how all the handouts have made it harder for blacks to succeed.

“Did you know before we had minimum wage laws, black unemployment and white unemployment were the same? If we increase the minimum wage, black unemployment will skyrocket.” See? He understands it, but the average black does not.

What will happen if Democrats who believe in Marxism keep raising the minimum wage?

If the minimum wage went up to $15/Hr, just think how much less tax money would go to food stamps & other assistance programs.

I thought you whiners hated those programs.

Teaman, just to be clear about France's 75% tax rate before January of this year...
French President, Francois Hollande, was the least popular French president in modern times due to tax increases, recession and high unemployment, compounded by a reputation for dithering.
Hollande decided to erase that image and became a reformer last January. He cut the tax and regulatory burden on companies in return for commitments to create jobs and boost training.
He cut spending by 50 billion euros ($68 billion) in 2015-17 on top of a planned 14 billion this year.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/01/14/us-...
If Obama had his way, we'd be paying 75% in taxes like the French once did. Of course, the Communist Party in France isn't happy the government isn't running the show there anymore. Reminds me of the progressive liberals here.
Mindless gibberish.

Hollande is an accidental President who has stepped into one shtpile after the other.

Obama, according to Forbes is the best economic POTUS in modern times. He's probably the best in other areas as well.

if the minimum wage is increased to $15 per hour, how much should all other salaries be increased???...
That's the big question, isn't it? At least the one I've always had. Skilled workers who studied to learn a specialized skill often start out making no more than $15 an hour. What would be the incentive to learn a trade or a skill that's in demand if you can flip burgers for the same income?

And how much more should skilled workers earn to compensate for their contribution? How much more will consumers have to pay for their services and increased salaries?

It's a conundrum. I kind of agree with O'Reilly on this. He thinks $10 an hour is fair and wouldn't affect raising other salaries all that much. Most people wouldn't mind paying 50 cents to a dollar more for a value meal at McDonald's or $5 to $10 more for a specialized service.

What do you think?
