I would like our government to stop spending like drunken sailors, cut out the waste and duplication, go on a strict diet so oversight means it can bend over and see its toes, and get off the backs of taxpayers and the private sector.

Is that too much to ask from drunken sailors who eat junk food and weigh others down by riding piggy back instead of walking on their own two feet?

I'm afraid this is going to get far worse before it will get better. Heard a rumor awhile ago about some Africans coming across the border as South Americans with a suitcase full of anthrax. Most likely nothing to it but with the border open like it is the possibility is high that something will walk across.

Since when Galt in favor of out of control cops? You've been whining about them for years.
the Michael Brown affair is an extremely poor example from which to examine the real problem of "out-of-control cops"....

Brown was a criminal, fleeing a crime scene, and an obvious bully...

and there is no evidence that the cop acted improperly......

so why pick this example, out of many better cases....

Since we are all making up our own meanings of the term "Boots on the Ground", I say we have to actually count the number of boots.

Your claim is that "boots on the ground" means military personal regardless of purpose.

Unless the military guys are hopping round on one foot, 2000 boots on the ground obviously means 1000 soldiers.

Weapons have nothing to do with it. When the President talked about "Boots on the Ground" he referred to troop for a particular purpose. You don't get to change that definitions & then run screaming through the streets like a whiney little girl.

apparently you can make it up. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel did in fact attend Major General Harold Greene's funeral.

I do believe Hagel is considered part of the White House......

Pray tell how is President Obama not attending the Gerneral's funeral any different that President Bush not attending LTG Maude's funeral in 2001?

Was it:
Reagan was a proven leader before taking office and Obama wasn't?
Reagan was respected because he put America first over politics and Obama doesn't?
Conservatives don't want government or government officials to save us from anything?
George Washington knew people could only govern themselves through a higher consciousness?
Communists look to government and government officials as their collective conscience?

Only someone with no military experience and understanding of military jargon would come up with such a post. The term "Boots on the Ground" specifically refers to actual combat units made up of GRUNTS. Not support personnel.

They troops we have in Iraq right now are advisors, trainers, Embassy security and intel people. None of those are of a combat specific unit, like a Rifle/Infantry BN, Regiment or Division.

It's fast becoming an annoying trend. Unless those who do it and challenge others to do it mention why they're doing it - to raise awareness and donations for Lou Gehrig's disease - and personally donate to this cause, it's just plain stupid. But that's what too many Americans are becoming. Some even embrace it to the point of dumping ice cold water over their heads without having a clue why they're doing it.

The gap between common sense and stupidity may be starting to close somewhat...but this trend bothers the fool out of me.

Maybe we should start a new trend. Let's challenge people to ram their heads into the side of a brick building. Some people would actually do it, I'm quite sure.

We should all be a little worried how easily some people will go along with anything.

In Defense of Gentle Giant -- NY Times Finds Religion
FERGUSON, Mo.— It was 1 a.m. and Michael Brown Jr. called his father, his voice trembling. He had seen something overpowering. In the thick gray clouds that lingered from a passing storm this past June, he made out an angel. And he saw Satan chasing the angel and the angel running into the face of God. Mr. Brown was a prankster, so his father and stepmother chuckled at first.
“No, no, Dad! No!” the elder Mr. Brown remembered his son protesting.“I’m serious.”
And the black teenager from this suburb of St. Louis, who had just graduated from high school, sent his father and stepmother a picture of the sky from his cellphone.“Now I believe,” he told them.

Sure...whatever. Can't recall anyone labeling Reagan as a messiah or a national magazine depicting him with a halo over his head or any news commentator saying he was bigger than God.

Only your side has no perspective whatsoever worshipping a cool black guy just because he was the first cool black guy running for the presidency with no credentials or qualifications for him to hold that much power. No one on your side even talked about that. Everyone on my side did.

Mindless blather__Reagan's terms are vastly overrated. Additionally, he didn't have to deal with cable TV politics, the plethora of reaction radio puke or the blogosphere.

I'm not sure the Reagan Administration's antics could have withstood the internet.
