If a person is hellbent on killing; he will find a way to do it. Most crazed killers are not worrying about consequences and the police can't go around arresting everyone who talks crazy talk either.
The way I see this situation is that perhaps the family could have Baker Acted him and confiscated his guns; but he could have signed himself out after 24 hours.
Sad to say; you can't stop crazy. This was a horrible event.

Logic from the Left

Several murdered in mass stabbing? Blame the stabber.

Car driven into a crowd of people killing several? Blame the driver.

Several killed in mass shooting? Blame the gun.

Single payer can be paid for through taxation; that's how it's done. Doctors in other countries are not multi millionaires. Healthcare should not be a "for profit" business. Eliminate the middle man i.e. the insurance companies; and you eliminate huge costs. Huge.
Why should a ceo of a health insurance company make a hundred million dollar salary plus bonus? Where does the money come from?
Taking in premiums, and denying services. Simple.

No, he isn't. It's true that a person can kill many more people in a short period with a gun than with a knife. If Adam Lanza only had a knife; he may have stabbed and killed someone, but the likelihood of someone subduing him would have been greater and the number of victims lessened.

Elliot Rodger
UPDATED: Six people have died and 13 injured after a gunman opened fire after 9 p.m. on Friday night in Isla Vista.

A 22-year-old gunman killed six people in an Isla Vista rampage that began with a 140-page manifesto and an apartment stabbing and ended with a crashed BMW and an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"It all has to come to this," Elliot Rodger stated during a nearly seven-minute "Retribution" video uploaded to YouTube on May 23. He later added: "After I've annihilated every single girl in the sorority house, I'll take to the streets of Isla Vista and slay every single person I see there."
Rodger, who died of a gunshot wound in the BMW, is the son of Hunger Games second unit director Peter Rodger. He had been a student who attended Santa Barbara City College classes sporadically since 2011.
REPORT: Santa Barbara Shooting Suspect's Parents Tried to Find Him During Killing Spree
The Santa Barbara sheriff's office had made contact with Rodger three times prior to the mass shooting, including an April 30 incident where deputies followed up on a request from a family member who asked that police check on his welfare.
"The deputies contacted the suspect, at the time found him to be polite and courteous, he downplayed the concerns for his welfare and the deputies cleared the call,” stated Sheriff Bill Brown at a Saturday evening press conference carried live on local stations and cable broadcasters.
The first three victims in the later rampage were "stabbed repeatedly with sharp objects" in Rodger's apartment, the next two were shot outside the Alpha Phi sorority and the last victim was killed at a local deli, the sheriff stated. Thirteen people were injured during the shootings, including multiple bicyclists that authorities said were hit with Rodger's vehicle.
Rodger was armed with multiple handguns, all legally purchased. Three 9-mm semi-automatic handguns were found in his vehicle.
"It would appear as though he took his own life," Sheriff Brown said.
Peter Rodger's attorney, Alan Shifman, earlier confirmed by phone to The Hollywood Reporter that the family had contacted police about Elliot several weeks prior to the shooting. Shifman also said that the college student had been seeing a social worker and therapists recently.
The Associated Press earlier quoted Shifman saying that police were contacted after YouTube clips were uploaded "regarding suicide and the killing of people." The 140-page manifesto is titled "My Twisted World The Story of Elliot Rodger."
The shooting on Friday occurred in 10 different crime scene areas in the college town located near the University of California, Santa Barbara. Late Saturday, the Santa Barbara sheriff's office issued an updated statement piecing together how the deadly incident ended.

As usual you change the subject. I responded to a post that said there were things in the republican bills he did not like so they should not be voted on. I would love it if the republicans in the house brought forward the bills from the senate. Have the vote, let all of America see where they stand on the thousands of illegals in this country.

¨The clearest and most chilling conclusion to take away from the long build-up to Rodger’s bloody rampage, which caused six fatalities and a number of injuries before he shot himself, is that this young maniac slipped through the system far too often, despite loudly and clearly communicating his deadly intentions for years.¨

CNN has a fascinating timeline littered with those “red flags.”

“Once again, we are grieving over the deaths and devastation caused by a young man who was sending up red flags for danger that failed to produce intervention in time to avert tragedy. In this case, the red flags were so big the killer’s parents had called police… and yet, the system failed.”- Doris Fuller, Executive Director of the Treatment Advocacy Center, Virginia

The Santa Barbara killings included 3 who were stabbed to death but the Liberal Media insists on leading in to the story with the "shootings" and some don't even mention the stabbings. This is SOP for them and for useful idiots like you.
In Taiwan, a subway wacko stabbed 24 people, killing four.
In China, the past few years, at least, have shown us news reports of mass ax and knife killings, some even in grade schools. Gun possession is not allowed in China.
There was a mass killing even as far back as the late 1800's in Michigan where a disgruntled taxpayer planted a massive amount of dynamite in the basement of a grade school wiping out the entire town's children.
Gun Control Freaks are a dime-a-dozen Chicken Littles. Stamp your feat and they scatter for cover. A substantial person would fight to find ways to protect themselves and their loved ones instead of calling for more government control where criminals and police would always have the weapons while the honest citizen sheep would not.
problem is....we don't have an NKA buying politicians. or trying to hide how many people are killed by knifes. or working for the knife industry. or ignoring the Constitution.

So you want to make doctors slaves of the government? If there is no incentive for gain you will only get the mediocre. Just what we need in health care.

¨While we wait for the answers to those questions, it’s interesting to read that CNN timeline and see how clearly Rodger was driven by a massive sense of entitlement, not so very different from what corrections officers report as the motivating factor for a great deal of criminal activity.

This guy thought the world owed him, big time, and he was going to punish it for cheating him of the sexual gratification, fame, and fortune he felt were his due.

The fact that he was already rolling pretty high – some of his twenty-two creepy YouTube videos were filmed from the driver’s seat of the BMW his mom bought him, and he had five thousand dollars salted away to buy weapons – did not diminish his sense of being cheated in the slightest.¨

30 Percent of Entire Year Goes to Taxes

How much tax are you paying? How much is government taking out of your life?

These are trick questions because, truth be told, nobody can answer them with certainty.

The Tax Foundation calculates that “Tax Freedom Day,” the day you cease being a serf for Uncle Sam and begin working for yourself and your family, for the average American is April 21.

By this measure, just paying your taxes to federal, state, and local governments takes an average of 111 days — three days longer than last year, and more than 30 percent of your entire year.

This burden varies widely by state, the Tax Foundation calculates. In the lowest-taxed state, Louisiana, Tax Freedom Day arrived on March 30. In the highest-taxed states, Connecticut and New Jersey, taxpayers will labor until May 9, to pay what their politicians demand.

We pay in servitude for ever-larger government. As the Tax Foundation found, in 1900 Americans paid less than 6 percent of their income to the government, and the liberation of Tax Freedom Day for most was Jan. 22, just three weeks into the 52-week year.

The taxes we now see, however, are only a fraction of our total government bondage. The Tax Foundation estimates that if we include the delayed taxation of federal government borrowing, Tax Freedom Day slides to May 6.

When John F. Kennedy was president, more than 50 cents of every tax dollar went for national defense.

Today, more than 70 cents of every tax dollar go for “transfer payments,” taking money from the pockets of some to redistribute it into the pockets of others whom the politicians deem more worthy.

The group Americans for Tax Reform calculates the “Cost of Government Day,” taking into account the de facto taxation of mandates through which government simply commands companies and individuals to spend money on things the politicians want, such as the private health insurance policies under Obamacare.

When people are required to spend their own money on things mandated by government, their earnings are confiscated as surely as taxes would do.

In 2013, Cost of Government Day in 2013 fell on July 13 for the average American, who worked more than half of the year just to pay for taxes plus government regulations.

After more than 100 years on the progressive road to serfdom, the average American now labors more than half his or her working life just to pay what the political ruling elite demands.

In effect, we have created a new kind of slavery in pursuit of failed progressive ideology.
