Women Strongly Oppose Hobby Lobby's Birth Control Case: Poll

"Overwhelmingly, the women who are most likely to be affected by the Hobby Lobby decision say that corporations should not be entitled to exempt themselves from the requirement to cover prescription birth control, even on religious grounds," said Geoff Garin, President of Hart Research Associates. "As a matter of principle, these women don’t believe corporations should be able to use religion to pick and choose which laws they will obey."

The poll shows that women also oppose other kinds of religious freedom laws, such as the one recently considered in Arizona that would let businesses refuse to serve same sex couples because of religious objections to homosexuality. Eighty-one percent of women polled said businesses should not be able to refuse service to gays and lesbians, and the same number said pharmacies should not be allowed to refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control on religious grounds.

Women of all demographics overwhelmingly support the provision of the Affordable Care Act requiring employers to cover contraception and other preventive health services for women, including 92 percent of Democrats, 83 percent of independents, 63 percent of Republicans and 79 percent of Catholics.

"This is the kind of issue that has the potential to become a litmus test for many women about whether their leaders side with them or side with corporations instead," Garin said.

The incredible shrinking Obamacare sob story

Another day, another Obamacare “victim” ad from Americans for Prosperity shown to be a pack of nonsense.

Today Post fact checker Glenn Kessler takes apart yet another AFP spot, which is targeting multiple Senate Dems, that claims “millions” have ”lost their health insurance” and “are paying more and getting less.” Kessler pillories these ”sweeping” assertions that ”lack context or offer a misleading picture.”

But the broader picture is worth appreciating, too. If you survey AFP spots over time, you’ll see that as they have come under scrutiny, the Obamacare victim tales have gradually withered away and disappeared.

All the true republicans I know don't give no interest loans to the government. They plan their tax liability to minimize their return or even pay money to the government quarterly or yearly. Whichever works for their situations. Only losers fall for that "get back" scam the government runs. It always make me laugh when someone says "I got back $3500 on my taxes. Then proceeds to go pay off some of the debt they acquired over the year.

A naive left winger would rather give his tax money to non-producers or those who hypocritical libs deem "cool."

For example, In 2012, Zuckerberg’s Facebook not only didn’t pay any net federal income tax but was actually due a refund of about $430 million. Why? Because the company (lawfully) deducted the stock options it issues to Facebook employees, many of them now deliriously wealthy because of those options.

If Exxon or Koch Industries had managed that, libs would have been rioting in the streets.

But because it was Facebook — a company that libs deem cool — it was a one-day story that was given very little attention by the left leaning main stream media.

If this company were something that actually made something in a factory or a field, it would have been condemned by every single media hack on the planet.

Never mind that companies like Exxon and Koch supply the energy without which Facebook wouldn’t work: They’re not cool to libs.

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Police in the Lehigh Valley say a Pennsylvania mother left her two-month-old baby in a minivan while she spent hours drinking in a bar, reports CBS Philly.

Lisa Altif, 32, was arrested after police say she left her two-month-old in a cold car while she drank at the Keystone Pub in Bethlehem Township for five hours.

"It was 39 degrees out through the Weather Service, and the baby definitely appeared to be somewhat cold based upon her attire. She was only in a onesie with some light socks and a light blanket on," Township police officer Stephen Malitzki, Jr. said, according to the station.

Police say Altif walked in and ordered her first glass of wine at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Around 11:30 p.m., someone heard the infant crying.

"Some of our customers came in, heard the baby crying, notified the manager," Savvas Kiprislis, owner of Keystone Pub said, according to the station.

"I did find a car seat strapped to the floor of the car with the actual rear seat removed, in the rear of the minivan. I felt the hood immediately, and it was very cold to the touch," Officer Malitzki said.

Officer Malitzki reportedly walked into the pub asking for the minivan's owner. Altif followed him out and unlocked the vehicle.

"We removed the baby in the car seat and put her in one of our patrol cars until an ambulance could come to check the infant out. We wanted to get her warmed up," the officer said.

Altif initially told police she had only been inside for 20 minutes but later changing her story to 40 minutes, according to the station. Police say she had as many as five glasses of wine and her blood alcohol level was one-and-a-half times the legal limit.

"Someone saw something and said something to us. Those people are heroes. Hopefully that child will be okay...(they) maybe even saved that baby's life," Kiprislis said.

Police have been trying to contact the child's father. The baby is now in the care of Child and Youth Services.

Altif is being held on $40,000 cash bail.

The US Navy uses about 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles per year to deal with global threats or to send a message. The Hellfire missile has become a mainstay of anti-terrorism operations since the CIA and military adapted the Predator drone aircraft to launch them. But under President Obama’s military budget, both programs will be eliminated over the next year or two. By 2018, the United States will have used all of its remaining stocks of Tomahawk missiles. And the military has no replacement for either weapon system ready to go yet.

The Washington Free Beacon:

President Barack Obama is seeking to abolish two highly successful missile programs that experts say has helped the U.S. Navy maintain military superiority for the past several decades.

The Tomahawk missile program—known as “the world’s most advanced cruise missile”—is set to be cut by $128 million under Obama’s fiscal year 2015 budget proposal and completely eliminated by fiscal year 2016, according to budget documents released by the Navy.

In addition to the monetary cuts to the program, the number of actual Tomahawk missiles acquired by the United States would drop significantly—from 196 last year to just 100 in 2015. The number will then drop to zero in 2016.

The Navy will also be forced to cancel its acquisition of the well-regarded and highly effective Hellfire missiles in 2015, according to Obama’s proposal.

“It doesn’t make sense,” said Seth Cropsey, director of the Hudson Institute’s Center for American Seapower.“This really moves the U.S. away from a position of influence and military dominance.”

Cropsey said that if someone were trying to “reduce the U.S. ability to shape events” in the world,“they couldn’t find a better way than depriving the U.S. fleet of Tomahawks. It’s breathtaking.”

Money isn’t the issue. Obama’s budget takes the money saved from axing these programs and puts it toward an experimental missile that won’t be fielded for about a decade.

Navy experts and retired officials fear that the elimination of the Tomahawk and Hellfire systems—and the lack of a battle-ready replacement—will jeopardize the U.S. Navy’s supremacy as it faces increasingly advanced militaries from North Korea to the Middle East.

The cuts are “like running a white flag up on a very tall flag pole and saying,‘We are ready to be walked on,’” Cropsey said.

Retired Army Lt. Col. Steve Russell called the cuts to the Tomahawk program devastating for multiple reasons.

“We run a huge risk because so much of our national policy for immediate response is contingent on our national security team threatening with Tomahawk missiles,” said Russell, who is currently running for Congress.

“The very instrument we will often use and cite, we’re now cutting the program,” Russell said.“There was a finite number [of Tomahawk’s] made and they’re not being replenished.”

“If our national policy is contingent on an immediate response with these missile and we’re not replacing them, then what are we going do?” Russell asked.

Yet another move in which Barack Obama is clearly weakening the United States just as Russia gains strength. Two words: Fundamental transformation.

Interesting; I agree that there should be bars and restaurants that allow smoking as well as those that prohibit it. If you don't like smoking; don't go there. Simple.
Drinking goes with smoking; and as your article clearly states; if you prohibit it then you have sidewalks filled with people smoking. There are devices that can be bought to limit the smell of smoke in those establishments.
