Their nuclear generation design came from GE, but I don't recall GE advising them on what or where to build.
Not being prepared is exactly right. I don't recall where I read about the warnings against the location of the plant. I recall the regulators were full of corruption and nepotism favoring the energy company. In other words, they were bought off. Anyway, the disaster was man made and because it was a nuclear plant. Nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines have been using nuclear reactors for years.

<quoted text>no there are numerous very probable situations where our similarly designed nuke plants could lose power and backup power...where hey wer built had absolutely nothing to do with their design flaws...
in fact, as previously stated, we have two here in MN at the top of he Mississippi river, if they go like fukishima,(and i have given absolutely plausible situations which would cause this) the entire river would be useless to humans...and all the cities along side it...
think about that for a while...
one tornado outbreak in Monticello MN..yeah we have lots of those...a thrown rod or plugged fuel line in the back=up generator,a dn the middle section of our nation useless for five generations...
very plausible..but hey, just turn your eyes from this reality..
Only two?:-)

I'm pretty sure those rods are in a hardened area that is supposed to be bomb resistant. I doubt if a tornado would effect it much. Hurricane Sandy didn't do anything and two of our plants are on the coast.

much smaller. how many major nuclear power plant disasters have we had? three. how many are still relatively uncontained? two. how many irradiated huge areas for generations to come? two...

what would have happened of these had been the ones here in Mn on the river> or in ohio on teh river? or in TN on the river? funny thing about nuke plants they have to be by large bodies of water to cool them so when we fuck them up, we all pay huge costs....for generations...

ummm all that needs to happen is to have the poser grid taken out...

you really have absolutely no idea what happened at the fukishima plant, do you yet here you are attempting to talk about it..that is rather silly of you isn't it?

the plants on the east coast had days of warning to shut down so they did...

again for your edification..... it was the loss of power that made the fukishima plant melt down yes, it seems silly, but they need outside power to cool down in an emergency. if the power grid is cut off, by say a tornado which we have no warning of in time to shut off the reactors, then we have to rely on back up generators to power that cool down. these failed at fukishima. they could easily fail here. i have shown that after the japan incident, one of our similar US plants had a faulty valve that would have made shut emergency cool down impossible for a year and no one knew about it...how many other valves are out there waiting to be found?

yes. only two but how many coal plants have destroyed whole regions for generations to come? none...not one...it is not even possible with that type of plant.

She should have instead demanded immediate U.N. deployment of observers into every Russian and Ukraine Newsroom. That would certainly send a chill down Putin's cold, stiff spine.

Detroit is sliding back into its old black ways again. City Councilman George Cushingberry is another Trayvone thug looking to suck blood from taxpayers. Corrupt and defiant, he fits the stereotypical black politician to a T.

A ray of hope: there are local grassroots black groups trying to remove the black stain from office. Let's hope the Socialist Liberal Media shuts up and gets out of the way.
