Natural CO2 and human CO2 are two different animals.
The natural cycle adds and removes CO2 to keep a balance; fossil fuels add extra CO2 without removing any. Since the land and oceans can only absorb about 40% of all the extra CO2 produced by humans, the rest remains in the atmosphere. Those are scientific facts.

To be fair, he does seem a little confused as to where his politics lie... I think we'd both better cross him off our mailing lists... A woodturner, eh? Just the sound of it sends chills up my spine. I just hate cutting into a beautiful burl or blank, it's like defacing a statue... though I do it often enough.

Increasingly it seems as if the interesting people and the remaining fish in my life are in Oregon and Washington... I might have to bite the bullet, so to speak, and come make amends... I assume you still take those out there? This place is the pits, frankly, and the only fish left here are frozen.

What Cold? Earth Had Its Fourth-Warmest January

Continuing the nearly 29-year streak of above-average global monthly temperatures, January came in as the fourth-warmest such month on record, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This makes it the warmest January since 2007, NOAA said, and was the 38th-straight January with a global temperature above the 20th century average.

The global warmth came in stark contrast to the “polar vortex” induced conditions the eastern U.S. and Canada experienced, as well as the cold and stormy conditions in the UK and parts of Russia. Unusually high temperatures elsewhere more than compensated for these cold regions. For example, Southern Hemisphere land temperatures were the highest on record for the month.

In other words, it may have been cold where you were, but globally, the planet’s hot streak continues unabated. If February's global average temperature comes in above the 20th century average, it would make 29 years since the last below average month. Not only that, but increasing odds of an El Niño event occurring by the end of the summer means that global average surface temperatures may vault to record levels by late this year and into 2015.

Amends #1: I apologize for cutting down all the gigantic cherry trees someplace in Western Massachusetts. All I can say in my defense is that if God didn't want me to have 57 cherry burls 4 to 5 feet in diameter he shouldn't have let me drive by them.

GOOD! Maybe we all will burn less fuel just to keep warm and produce less CO2.

In order to convince anybody to change their lifestyle to avert this global climate "disaster", you lefties need to:

1. Prove that the temperature is rising abnormally against a multi-million year trend
2. Prove that the "problem" is man-caused
3. Come up with a solution that is irrefutably certain to REVERSE the warming trend (if there is one) and
4. Tell us how you are going to convince China, India etc. to sacrifice their economic growth to go along with your plan.

Otherwise, everything you lefties have proposed to fix "climate change" (used to be "global warming") looks and smells an awful lot like every other solution you propose to every other problem: create huge gubbermint pwogwams, tax the hell out of people, regulate people's lives and limit their choices.

And given the success you Socialist/Democrats have had with "economic stimulus", "affordable care", E85 fuel, I don't see you convincing anybody except your S/D useful idiots.
