When Carter left office, the national debt was at .9 trillion.
After twelve years of Reagan and GHW Bush, it stood at 4.1 trillion.
Under Clinton, the debt increased by only 1.6 trillion over an eight year period. And Clinton left office with a balanced annual budget. I'll give Republicans some credit for that.
Then came GW Bush...
After eight years, the debt increased from 5.7 to 11.4 trillion. ADD to this the immense bail-outs caused by CDWs (credit default swaps) and the collapsed real estate market.
All that borrowing and bail-out came during the GOP watch.

However, Bawney Frank stomped his little feet and held his breath until he turned blue, then accused Bush of hating minorities and the poor and nothing was done.

Impossible to make the situation better when all the president cares about is wealth redistribution, paying tribute to the tree huggers and does zero to create jobs.

When Oblamer proposes something useful I'm sure the repubs will get on board. Right now the country is watching the disastrous healthcare implosion created by the dems.

The energy sector has exploded under Oblama, however he gets no credit at all, on the contrary, he did whatever he could to prevent it, see the Keystone pipeline. He cares nothing about jobs. Has he even mentioned Afghanistan lately? Or the dead and maimed soldiers?

SICK CALL: O'bama bundler Anthony Welters’ firm owns the company picked to repair the health Web site.

The couple then became top donors for Obama’s inauguration festivities, kicking in $100,000 out of their own pockets and bundling another $300,000 from friends and business associates, according to the center.

The investments quickly paid off for Beatrice Welters. The Obama administration tapped her in 2009 for the plum job of US ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, which she held through last November.

The couple have been frequent guests at the White House.

Visitors logs show at least a dozen visits between the two by the end of 2012, the most recent information available.

The entire Welters family has gotten into the donation game.

The Welters, along with their sons, Andrew and Bryant, have contributed more than $258,000 to mostly Democratic candidates and committees since 2007.

What’s more, UnitedHealth Group is one of the largest health-insurance companies in the country and spent millions lobbying for ObamaCare.

The insurance giant’s purchase of QSSI in 2012 raised eyebrows on Capitol Hill, but the tech firm nevertheless kept the job of building the data hub for the ObamaCare Web site where consumers buy the new mandatory health-insurance plans.

QSSI has been paid an estimated $150 million so far, but officials couldn’t say how much more the company might collect on the repair contract.

Makes one wonder how much money O'bama and the democrats have stolen already.

I have done well under the last 5 presidents, want to hazard a guess as to why? Right now my wife and I are living well and spending money, making employment for others. I benefit from trickle down and others benefit from our spending.

The country IS on it's feet. Socialized medicine aka single payer, which is the goal of this administration, is NOT the will of the people. Thank God someone is trying to stop it.

Obama needs no help looking bad. He's doing a fine job all by himself. The lies and deceit have become legendary.

Look at Slovakia, Poland, Belgium, Usbekistan, Chile, Ecuador....the list a long and shining example of what happens to economies when government gets out of the way.

And here in America, the Magic Negro exclaims that "You didn't build that!" and then proceeds to choke economic freedom right out of America's lifeblood.

This is the sort of ironic plot one finds in fiction novels....

None of this challenges my fundamental statement, that the immense debt we have today was caused by GOP "trickle down" economics.

Your citations argue the White House was not culpable for the real estate meltdown.

But they fail to exonerate the GOP Majority in Congress for allowing the crisis to careen out of control.

Pointing the finger at Obama doesn't get the Republican congressional majority off the hook for its laxity.

But the biggest issue is the enormous federal deficit which was created by GOP "trickle down" economics.

Check and mate.

Tax receipts went up every year under Bush. Normally the congres, not the president controls the budget and spending, however Oblama and dirty Harry are using legislative crookery to prevent any budgets or votes on budgets, to enable the obscene spending and more obscene deficits.

Where are the jobs the $85 billion a month are supposed to be creating? Seems like the WS fatcats are doing well.
