If it is pushed through to completion.
The benefit to the Democrats by them shutting the government down is it is a distraction from the Eric Holder investigation, the Benghazi investigation, the IRS investigation, the NSA investigation, the buffoonery in foreign affairs, etc., etc., etc.

The longer they can use the media to distract the people's attention away from their criminal activity and ignorant buffoonery, the better it is for them. That has to be one of the reasons they keep 13 percent of the government shut down and pretend it's a big issue.

Gallup: GOP Favorability Plunges To Record Low

Only 28 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party, according to findings from Gallup released Wednesday.

That number represents a nadir for either party since Gallup began asking the question in 1992 and a 10-point drop for the GOP from a month ago. Sixty-two percent said they have an unfavorable opinion of the Republican Party.

Conversely, Gallup found that Americans are more split when it comes to Democrats. Forty-three percent said they have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party, compared with almost half — 49 percent — who said they have an unfavorable opinion.

According to Gallup, which recently found support for the tea party dropping to a record low, about one in four Americans view both of the two major parties unfavorably.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) is considering accepting Obamacare's Medicaid expansion in his state via executive order, his office confirmed to TPM, after the state legislature stymied his efforts earlier this year.

The possibility was first reported by the Columbus Dispatch.“We continue to explore all our options and just want to get this done," Kasich spokesman Robert Nichols told TPM in an email Wednesday.

Republicans Have No “Policy Advantage” in the Shutdown Fight

By watering down the House GOP’s demands somewhat, Ryan is tacitly acknowledging the futility of the defunding effort, and so naturally his proposals are meeting resistance from movement conservatives that still haven’t realized that that effort cannot possibly succeed. The problem with Ryan’s proposal is that it doesn’t make much difference whether the House GOP throws one big demand at Obama or settles for making a number of smaller ones, since it is the idea that Republicans should be rewarded for their antics that most clearly divides the two sides.

Mandel’s main mistake here is thinking that Republicans have a “policy advantage” that they are in danger of squandering. The ACA has been unpopular since its inception, but conservative opponents have consistently misinterpreted this as proof that the public would welcome rehashing the debate over the law, and they have wrongly taken the public’s disapproval as a sign that trying to derail the law using any and all means available is a political winner for them. In the current fight, the GOP has no “policy advantage” because most of the public doesn’t accept the way that Republicans are going about undermining the law, and there is less support for undermining the law than many conservatives realize. It is possible that whatever advantage the GOP may have had because of its opposition to the ACA is being eroded by the party’s preoccupation with it.

All we heard for the past 7 years from Repubs was if only Obama would let the oil companies drill then gas prices would be lower. Well it's happened. The US is now ranked number ONE in the world for oil and gas production. Did it lower consumer cost? No. The Rich CEOs of all the American companies are shipping gas and oil to China as fast as tankers can be loaded. The US has another record this year. The MOST oil and gas ever EXPORTED from the US. Talk about suckers--- Drill, Baby, Drill only made the billionaires on the oil company boards richer and did nothing for the average American.
You're assuming they get all that exploration cost for free.
Here's how it works. A company like Exxon spends billions of dollars acquiring leases. Then, they spend a hundred billion dollars planning and drilling, with a discovery rate of about 10 percent of wells drilled. Then they spend a hundred billion dollars for completion and production of the discoveries.

The rich CEOs are often farm boys that graduated from places like Texas A&M after studying something like Mechanical Engineering and did blue-collar engineering coming up through their career, then managed engineers, then managed projects, then managed regions, then managed business units, then managed global corporate, then became CEO. It's not like the environment you belong to where someone is born to a position, or picked and groomed for a predestined positioni like people such as Kerry and Obama.

Anyone can become CEO of one of these giant oil companies. All you have to do is study something that is so hard most people at a university study something else, dedicate yourself to your profession and produce results, and keep doing this for a career.

Perhaps that is what Democrats don't like about oil companies, in particular, American oil companies.

Another thing....

If you want to give a post like this credibility, you have to tell everyone what the profit margin Exxon works with is. Then, so everyone will have a point of reference, compare that profit margin with other companies in other industries, like Microsoft, for example.
As your post is now, it doesn't say a goddam thing. It's just ignorant ranting to an ignorant readership.

According to you, I'm a "no-life moron", but you are publicly admitting your mission on TOPIX (of all places) is to expose lies, ignorance, greed and hypocrisy (on TOPIX). Um, most intelligent people would call that a no-life mission. And to top that off, you choose as your tactic of this no-life mission to create a few dozen unique email addresses so you can then create a few dozen unique (well, as unique and you can get while trying to mimic "Eman") Topix accounts. Somehow, that seem sane to you? Incredible. Is someone getting a government grant to study you? They should,
