Power Failure Hits Metro-North, Amtrak

A power failure that crippled Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak service north of New York City on Wednesday could persist for weeks, officials said, forcing tens of thousands of commuters to cope with jammed, delayed trains or long alternative routes to work.

Con Edison officials said it could take as long as two to three weeks to restore electricity to the section of overhead wires at Mount Vernon, N.Y., where a 138-kilovolt feeder line failed at 5:22 a.m. Wednesday.

The power outage cut electricity to the wires that power Metro-North and Amtrak trains along the New Haven Line, which the Metropolitan Transportation Authority says is the busiest commuter rail line in the country.

"The margin"?? Chimpy, you must have been asleep (or getting pumped) during the last midterm election. Let me remind you of the results: the greatest election landslide in history in favor of the Republicans.

OK, now you can resume getting pumped....

The USA doesn't negotiate with terrorists. But Hussein Obama does with their sponsors. After being utterly humiliated by Hassan Rouhani in New York earlier this week, Humble Hussein phoned the Iranian president last night to BEG for recognition as someone important.
If FDR was still kicking he'd call it "a second day that will live in infamy". Even the "Coward of the Century" Jimmy Carter, never stooped that low (he had someone else make the begging call).

They all voted for defunding O'bamacare. And then Harry Reid stripped the amendment out, so the lying tramps could say they voted against funding O'bama care when they run in 2014. Tell the truth Davie.

Just looked at CNN's list of how a Gvt shutdown would affect my life. Except for how it would affect the military, it all looks great to me.

Remember, choking a leftist phag into unconsciousness is the most patriotic thing you can do. Take advantage of any such legal opportunity you can muster!!

"The 54-to-44 vote to send the measure back to the House came after the Senate, in a bipartisan rebuke to Republican hard-liners, cut off debate on House legislation that would fund the government only if money for the new health law was eliminated. That 79-to-19 vote included the top Republican leadership and easily exceeded the 60-vote threshold to break a filibuster. It was followed by a 54-44 vote to take out the health law provision before passage."

Note where the part that defunded Obamacare was removed BEFORE passage.

The earlier wax a vote to end debate.

Obama is the new Neville Chamberlain. Only when Neville called Hitler, he didn't have to call collect because England was broke.

So now Barack Obama has spoken by phone to Hassan Rouhani — the first American president to speak to a leader of Iran in decades. And Rouhani has called the United States “great.”

Forgive us our lack of enthusiasm for Iranian leaders bearing praise. We suspect it may turn out the way his so-called admission of the Holocaust did. According to the Iranian news agency, Rouhani didn’t even use the word “Holocaust” in his remarks to the UN General Assembly this week, and the claim he did is based on a CNN mistranslation.

Now, Rouhani certainly sounds like an improvement over his predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a Holocaust-denial enthusiast. But as his UN address showed, the difference between Iranian extremists and Iranian moderates is more about tone than substance.

Therein lies the danger. While Rouhani may not declare that Iran is going to destroy Israel, nothing in his message suggests Tehran has changed its mind on that front. Unfortunately, the new tone seems to be providing enough cover for the diplomatic engagement President Obama so desperately wants — which the Iranians will no doubt use to buy time to develop and build nuclear warheads.

Mental impairment in the USA is running rampart! After four years of complete failure Obama got 51.5% of the popular vote in 2012.

Wonder what Disney's policy is on affirmative action?
