<quoted text>Well here's the truth: Thing is, the power outage was nothing unusual – and not at all sinister. When the weather is sizzling hot, the city’s brittle, outdated system gets overwhelmed because of extra air-conditioner use. It happened at least three times last summer, and customers endured longer outages.
This is what really happened last week: City officials warned courts, schools, municipal buildings and others to limit their use of electricity during two consecutive days of 95-plus temperatures to avoid a power outage.
On Sept. 11, the second day of the heat wave, one of the five main trunk lines supplying the city’s grid was down as part of routine maintenance by DTE.
“While that trunk line was down, it increased the load on the remaining four supplying the grid, causing another one to fail,” EM spokesman Bill Nowling told me.
Soon the city was down to three overwhelmed trunk lines, increasing the risk of a cascading blackout. To avoid an outage at hospitals and DPS schools, the city cut off power to other public institutions.
When word circulated that the city intentionally shut off power to courts and other important buildings, rumors swirled that the EM and his staff callously pulled the plug as a show of power, stranding people in elevators and causing security concerns at courts.
It’s a nice narrative, but the decision to turn off the power was a practical one – and it needed to be made at a moment’s notice. There was no time to issue another warning.
In the media, we have a responsibility to be honest so people can make their own decisions. Fueling fears and resentment is a disservice to the more than 700,000 people who live in Detroit and want to know what’s really going on.
Want a real conspiracy involving the emergency manager? State and city officials repeatedly lied to the public about the prospect of landing an emergency manager. That was real.
The narrative about the power outage was not.
Poor poor Sonic trying to scare the people of Detroit, I think they must be scared enough with all the crime without you propagandizing. Liberal liar.
".... they weren't responding as fast as we would like them to so we had to send them a strong message by turning the power off."

So our "symbolism over substance" president has demonstrated in the last few weeks why you don't hire the guy that lacks the credentials, character, and resume for the job. Enough were baffled by the bullshit to be convinced that he was 'smart" enough for the job even without the executive level management experience necessary for the presidency of the United States. Brilliant campaigning is one thing. Something all successful politicians must be able to do, and Barry does it better then most, but the time for campaigning is over. It's time to lead and this guy is out playing golf, blaming republicans, and giving Russia power it has not had for the last 25 years. To think we have to suffer three more years before the democrats try and convince us that Hillary is the answer to all the woes of the country and the world. After all, every thing that is bad today, which is a whole bunch, is all the fault of the republicans. Just ask any democrat or the president himself. They'll tell you all right. It's those rascally republicans and their hate for the whole country.

How many years since 1997 have been among the top warmest.
And from those lying bastards at NASA: http://climate.nasa.gov/
Once again, from your own source:

Even though extent at the beginning of this summer was similar to last year, the melt season ended with considerably more ice.

As a whole, air temperatures this summer have been below average over most of the central Arctic Ocean and Greenland, helping to slow down ice melting.

The point is, there is now a cooling trend. What some of us have been trying to tell Al Gore groupies the past six months.

The system was overloaded and they requested the government slugs at the courthouse to cut back their use of AC to prevent the entire system from crashing, creating a widespread blackout (excuse racist term). When they refused to cooperate, the power was cut off.
Power outage outrage

When FOX 2 asked Brown if he gave warning of a planned power shut down Brown says "we didn't get into details like that."

That's a minor detail, right? That you're going to turn off the power to dozens of businesses without warning, on the 12-year anniversary of 9/11, on the hottest day of summer, two days after a deputy was stabbed inside Frank Murphy Hall of Justice? That's not worth mentioning?

It's also why this president has not reached out to anyone to get the right advise - a form of narcissism.

True. Unless a family member knows the patient's family physician to secure a Living Will, I'm quite sure it can still be a dilemma.
Best thing is to make sure someone close to you knows where it can be found. But that doesn't always happen.
People are often pressured into signing "living wills" in an emotional moment, against their better judgment. Most hospitals will not pull the plug (assist suicide) on a patient that has a reasonable chance of recovery, regardless of such documents, nor should they. The living will is just a starting point for litigation.

As far as a hospital is concerned, if they don't see the paper-it doesn't exist, and the next of kin makes the decisions. There is a pecking order for that-spouse, adult children in order of age, parents, siblings in order of age, grandchildren, other family members, adult friend.

RERUN DOG AND PONY SHOW

Mrs. Feinstein, who was first thrust into the national spotlight as president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors announcing the shooting deaths of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, said,“Congress must stop shirking its responsibility and resume a thoughtful debate on gun violence in this country. We must do more to stop this endless loss of life.”

President Obama was one of the first to link Monday’s incident to the larger issue of gun violence and the legislative effort to curb it, though he did so without explicitly calling, as he has done repeatedly, for gun control measures.

“So we are confronting yet another mass shooting, and today it happened on a military installation in our nation’s capital,” Mr. Obama said as he opened an economic speech at the White House.

“Obviously, we’re going to be investigating thoroughly what happened, as we do so many of these shootings, sadly, that have happened, and do everything that we can to prevent them,” the president said.

Maybe, maybe not, particularly if the closest relative objects.

Seems like you work at a "hospital" that is afraid to turn away the common cold at the ER, but is willing to let patients die when they can be saved.

Tell us where so that we can stay away.

A patient has the right to refuse treatment at any time, even if it means that they will die.
