C'mon, Jerk. You can do it.

Put down your Koran, get your hand out from your crotch and focus.

"Islamic Terrorism", "Muslim Terrorist", "Allah Kills".

The Government-Created Subprime Mortgage Meltdown

by Thomas J. DiLorenzo

The thousands of mortgage defaults and foreclosures in the "subprime" housing market (i.e., mortgage holders with poor credit ratings) is the direct result of thirty years of government policy that has forced banks to make bad loans to un-creditworthy borrowers. The policy in question is the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which compels banks to make loans to low-income borrowers and in what the supporters of the Act call "communities of color" that they might not otherwise make based on purely economic criteria.

The original lobbyists for the CRA were the hardcore leftists who supported the Carter administration and were often rewarded for their support with government grants and programs like the CRA that they benefited from. These included various "neighborhood organizations," as they like to call themselves, such as "ACORN" (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). These organizations claim that over $1 trillion in CRA loans have been made, although no one seems to know the magnitude with much certainty. A U.S. Senate Banking Committee staffer told me about ten years ago that at least $100 billion in such loans had been made in the first twenty years of the Act.

So-called "community groups" like ACORN benefit themselves from the CRA through a process that sounds like legalized extortion. The CRA is enforced by four federal government bureaucracies: the Fed, the Comptroller of the Currency, the Office of Thrift Supervision, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The law is set up so that any bank merger, branch expansion, or new branch creation can be postponed or prohibited by any of these four bureaucracies if a CRA "protest" is issued by a "community group." This can cost banks great sums of money, and the "community groups" understand this perfectly well. It is their leverage. They use this leverage to get the banks to give them millions of dollars as well as promising to make a certain amount of bad loans in their communities.

How about a round of applause for the residents of Moore, OK and surrounding communities who are already well into the cleanup and rebuilding effort instead of sitting on their butts waiting for someone else to pick up the trash?

Lois Lerner's attorney, William W. Taylor III, previously represented Dominique Strauss-Kahn, among other high profile clients.

For someone who probably bills close to $1,000 per hour, he sure gave his client lousy advice and exposed her to prosecution for a gratuitous statement.

Wonder who is paying his fee?

Let's take one item, Jean from Queens, and that is teacher and public employee pensions.
Nobody is proposing to renege on pensions for teachers and other public employees who are already retired or near retirement. The taxpayers will need to take a big hit to pay off those pensions.
However, these pension plans are unsustainable in the long run and it is essential to convert such plans into defined contribution plans, the same as virtually all employees in the private sector.
Public employee pensions are smaller with fewer benefits than private sector employees pensions.

How can we expect Republicans to comprehend what happened in Benghazi if they don't even know where it is? "While voters overall may think Congressí focus should be elsewhere thereís no doubt about how mad Republicans are about Benghazi. 41% say they consider this to be the biggest political scandal in American history to only 43% who disagree with that sentiment. Only 10% of Democrats and 20% of independents share that feeling. Republicans think by a 74/19 margin than Benghazi is a worse political scandal than Watergate, by a 74/12 margin that itís worse than Teapot Dome, and by a 70/20 margin that itís worse than Iran Contra. One interesting thing about the voters who think Benghazi is the biggest political scandal in American history is that 39% of them donít actually know where it is. 10% think itís in Egypt, 9% in Iran, 6% in Cuba, 5% in Syria, 4% in Iraq, and 1% each in North Korea and Liberia with 4% not willing to venture a guess." Moore, OK is a lower middle-class community of working people, with a significant minority population. Unlike New Orleans, however, they are builders and not looters. It's not about race, but about values.

A Crisis of Authority
This will be a scandal like Watergate if it turns out that the IRS was acting under orders from Barack Obama or Valerie Jarrett. If the White House's conduct turns out to be unimpeachable, then it is something far worse: a sign that the government itself has become a threat to the Constitution.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142412788...
You should read the entire article. It explains how the left came to feel entitled to rule with the "grandiose" Barack Obama being the personification of that attitude.
And why we now have a crisis of authority.
No, your racist kind have a crisis of authority because, the man holding office ain't a whiteman, period!

Absolute horsecrap.

The average schoolteacher retires with a pension that is approximately 80% of their final salary.

Cop and fire pensions frequently exceed 100% of their final salary because overtime is included in the calculation.

Private pensions never come close, and have zero "benefits."

Typical of Jason. Offer a dumb opinion on something you have no actual knowledge of.

Wouldn't be because they had reported great earnings and outlook yesterday??

All these earnings were the 1st. quarter. Long before Moore.

Pretty unsophisticated thinking that a one city incident could influence huge chains like HD and LOW. They'll end up donating as much as they sell, just for the PR.
