Well we think Minnesota deserves a better coach
then Tubby.

Bring back Dan Monson!

He took us to the the NIT
every year and almost
won it all too.

Tubby can't coach.

Who the hell is this John guy? Sounds moronic. Iverson was terrible all year when he played. He blew the Purdue game during the regular season. He got pushed around all year. He woke up in the Big Ten tourney. Fuller must hate working for these people

V John Pluym is an idiot >< Iverson had to develop you knob and sucked the first half of the year. Did you even watch one game? If you watched any games this year you would realize how bad your take is.

Colton would of played more, but he has a tendency to get into foul trouble early and often. When he learns to play defense without fouling, he will be a stud and play much more.

Just because the story is being told a little late doesn't mean it's not true. You folks need to put down that big glass of Tubby Juice and pay attention.

The Gophers shouldn't have gotten into the NCAA Tourney by the skin of their teeth. They should be a 2nd or 3rd seed if Tubby was the coach you all believe him to be. In a fit of bi-polarism, Tubby called this team "untalented." Now he's back peddling on all that negativity and you March Madness crazies are clapping in unison to his crazy beat.

If the NCAA field wasn't so weak this year, Tubby and the Gophers would be sitting at home watching these games on TV like the rest of us. Illinois' record wasn't any worse than the Gophers, but they know everybody loves an underdog and the Gophers have more "heart warming stories" to spin for the TV advertisers.

Follow the $$ people, follow the $$.

Also, Iverson has always been the strong post player than Sampson. Tubby has been milking that big baby for all he's worth (which as it turns out, ain't much) at the expense of properly developing Iverson.

You'd be surprised at where the coaching and leadership has been coming from the last few weeks (hint: hasn't been Tubby, but give him credit for stepping out of the way and taking all the credit).

Interesting, Interesting forgot to tell the public he did not wartch any of the games the Gophers played ! Interesting enough if interesting had he, would have saw first hand that Colt threw brick after brick after brick at the rim the backboard and missed badly. No team wins when you give a guy (Iverson) the basketball multiple times two feet from the basket and miss almost all (80%) in that range. So Tubby had no choice so buzz off interesting LOSER !

Deputy sports editor V. John Pluym is a either an idiot or has no knowledge of basketball, Anybody who has watched Iverson all year winced every time he was on the floor: he was awful. Pluym can't even pronounce Xavier. What basketball fan doesn't know Xavier? Marcus R. Fuller sounds very knowledgeable. Why isn't he the deputy sports editor?

I like Colton for his aggressiveness, but really, the the offensive output is recent. Look at the stats to see that, unfortunately, Colton has been in foul trouble too often. Colton, keep up what you are doing and the playing time will follow.

Pluym is an idiot, he must not have seen any Gopher game prior to the Big Ten tourney. His "it's tough to play well from the bench" argument sounds like an irrational parent who can't admit that his kid just isn't getting the job done on the floor. It's always the coach's fault. Maybe the view from the bench lit a fire under Iverson and he figured out that his role is to rebound, work hard, rebound, score from the low block, rebound, set picks, rebound, block some shots and, did I mention --- rebound?

Anybody who was a season ticket holder or regular watcher of games on TV knows that Iverson struggled immensely this year. I'm not knocking the kid since he's only a sophomore. But to claim that he simply needed to play more is ridiculous. As others have noted, he got into foul trouble multiple times and was a turnover machine. Those are the facts, and Iverson has admitted it. Tubby has a quick leash, sometimes too quick, but to blame him for Iverson's poor play is just coddling. This isn't the MIAC and if people want the gophers to legitemately compete, then the players need to be accountable.

To hear V. John Pluym and "Interesting's" assertions that Tubby Smith hindered Colton's Iverson's development sound like the ignorant ramblings of an insane person, or one with a personal vendetta against Smith. Pluym and "Interesting" could not possibly make their inane case had they watched even half of Iverson's play during the regular season. The truth is Iverson was a liability on the court up until the last week of the season and became a stud in The Big 10 Tourney. Prior to that he'd constantly turn the ball over, get tied up, miss point-blank dunk shots, get shoved around, make bad fouls, and terrible decisions nearly every time he was on the court.
At first I thought Pluym's ignorance might have been motivated by an escusable St. Paddy's Day hangover, the results of too much green beer at Kiernan's. But when I realized he was serious in his unfounded attacks on Coach Smith, I grew concerned about the news judgment of a great newspaper for having a fool like him masquerading as an editor.

Wrong... have watched every Gopher game that Iverson has ever played in (and some of the practices). You should do the same before falling into line like the rest of the sheep bahhhhing "Tubby, Tubby, Tubby".

Tubby has hindered the development of most of the players on his team. They should be in the Elite Eight or Final Four in this weak tourney field. If they aren't, don't blame the players, again. Blame the Tubster.

An idiot? Right; that's why he is now working for ESPN.....and you're NOT.
