I would have expected a more supportive and upbeat article from a local guy. As far as your statement-Different dreams, different teams---yes they are different teams with extremely different programs, but no, they don't have different dreams, they both want to win!

It's 100 miles from Asheville to Boone...how is that a local team? Does that mean UT is a local team now? How about Furman? Wofford? Davidson?

Would you prefer the article gets sugar coated? DId you watch the game? It wasn't close, wasn't pretty and a very strong indicator of the vast gap between BCS and FCS football.

can we now return to football reality and accept the reality that while ASU has been hugely successful and plays good ball, it has done so in a much different environment than the one in which LSU plays.

Anyone who thought last year would be repeated was ignoring reality. ASU got a great payday, learned some valuable lessons, suffered a loss that will not hurt its chances in either the SoCon or Div I-AA, and could still win 4 straight national titles. The Moutaineers simply moved way above their weight class in this one.

For the person that stated ASU was 100 miles from Asheville, it may be, but they definitely get top billing from Keith Jarrett. How many more articles must we read about the Appalachian-LSU game? There has been something about this game in the paper every single day for over a week. Give it a rest!

Yes, the two schools are entirely different. LSU is a major program and can get major athletes and offer more scholarships and offer more in the way of salary to their coaching staff which allows them to TRAVEL across the country recruiting.

Appalachian, although not a major university, has great athletes based on the athletic departments ability to travel and recruit. They are a good team. However, a major upset like the one last year against Michigan isn't something that happens very often and for those that actually thought Appalachian had a chance against the nation's number one ranked school were living in a fantasy land.

The game is over. Can we please move on to week two and let the Appalachian-LSU game go? App has, as they are preparing for their next game, now it's time for Keith Jarrett to do the same!

The ACT won't let Jarrett do big time football guys. With all the budget cuts that have happened there, the ACT has turned into a joke of a paper. And yes, one win doesn't a career make. Grow up App. and act like you've been there....in the small division that is.

well it seems that alot of so called expersts called this one wrong as usal. most of the fans were excited to see the two champs play to test and see just how ASU measures up. Lets be honest. at the big house they pulled of the greatest upset in college football. However they were not undefeated in their own league? So to think that in just one game they could topple the mountain such as LSU. wasnt gonna happen. and didnt. as for the comments about down playing. sorry when u when the world cheers. when u lose u become forgotten. happens.. just like yogi said... theres always next year.
