Hope you get in Ap. State, but not at the expense of Purdue and Indiana. Other than those two, you should get it.

They should demand their money back from the Star. The dark-on-dark text was very difficult to read. And what was that blurry image in the upper left of the ad, anyway?

Geez,$10K you could've hired a PR firm to do a project -- creative publicity stunt to raise awareness that would garner more attention than 1 ad in a regional paper!

ASU's only hope is that the ad is seen as a stunt and carries over to the networks, where ESPN and CBS talk about it on the air. Otherwise, it was a waste.

I don't think that they have much of a chance of making the tournament even though their school is hot hot hot.

Great Marketing and the Mountaineer's deserve the spot in the big show!!

They beat Virginia who led the ACC!! They proved they can play with the big boys this year, so let them play!!

Don't think for a minute that Myles Brand and his quislings aren't subject to some manipulation. It is part and parcel of their craven nature. Perhaps they could cut a deal where App State agrees to submit to some sensitivity training for disparaging mountain men with their mascot caricature, then they can be in the tournament.

White Lightning, that was their publicity stunt - and it worked. The selection committee commented on it specifically, publicly.

That said, I don't agree with spending 10k to sell your school's tourney worthiness. You earn in on the court or you don't. A 10K advertising/publicity expenditure doesn't make you any more worthy.

Some of you have completely missed picture here. Yea, we spent $10K on an Ad that probably didn't really help us out all that much with the committee, but the bigger picture is the amount of additional publicity it created for ASU basketball and the university across the nation. Most of the major radio sports talk shows have mentioned it, ESPN has mentioned it, and it has shown up in tons of newspapers across the land. Appalachian State got TONS of national publicity from it. That 10K was the best money we have ever spent.
