Good job Miners! Let this be the first of many more trophies your hard work will earn. Don't settle for mediocre, always rise to the top. El Paso is cheering you on to have much success against Texas Tech and upcoming Conference USA schedule.

i was disappointed to hear the boos when Air Force entered the arena and when the players were announced. if it was NMSU or Wyoming, then booing is appropriate. these young men are going to serve the nation after completing their 4 years at the USAF Academy and deserved a warm welcome to our own military town.

I don't think the Miners flew by the Air Force last night......it could have been a loss. A win is a win though .... that's great.

I was very proud that Randy Culpepper won the MVP. He certainly deserved it. He is a fantastic player and I really enjoy watching him play. Wow!

This was hardly a "fly by", but a win is a win. Missed free throws, easy shots in the paint along with the many 3-point misses is what made this game close. I hope we see the Miner team that beat the Sooners on Sunday. If not, its going to be a long night in Lubbock.

Sport and life are separate. I boo'd my son when he played basketball against UTEP a few years ago at UAB. ;-)

One thing that this Air Force team did was expose the weakness of UTEP's inside game. When the Miners tried to go inside, the Air Force zone collapsed around them and UTEP's inside game virtually disappeared. UTEP didn't handle the double team well. In order to beat that type of zone you must get the ball to an inside player, then kick it out to the first open man who's got a 15 to 18 footer. UTEP didn't do that too well, but when we played a zone defense, Air Force did. Had they hit their open shots, this would have had a different outcome. We can only hope that other teams with superior talent to AF don't play a tight zone because unless we are able to shoot over it or get better movement (ball and players), it could be problematic. Talent did save us. Another thing that impressed me about their team was that each time a player came off the floor, the entire team on the bench would stand up until he took his seat -- a sign of true respect for teammates. Exactly what is expected of a military academy and something other teams should emulate.

Air Force Academy was the driving force in breaking up the old WAC conference and not allowing UTEP to join the Mountian West Conference. Had I been there I would have booed them too.

Hey Mike, they were seen as basketball players not as military men. Get over your disappointment because they along with all other military athletes will continue to get booed. You cheer for your team and you boo the opponent, it is very simple.

Thats sports man, its not like we were making it personal. Heck i boo'd!!! Doesn't mean I don't respect the military. Stop being so sensitive and support UTEP for goodness sake.

Think this is the year we get back to the tourney. Born an raised down there remember the glory years VERY WELL. Seems like coach Barbee an Coach Price are happy to be there. I really hope both hang around till they retire and make UTEP great again.

I hope you were being sarcastic my friend because if UTEP is not dancing this year it is only cuz they under achieved, which is seeming like a possible outcome. They have all the damn tallent in the world but they seem to go to sleep at times (not defending the back door layups, having 4 players around the bucket and letting the lone opponent grab the rebound, silly ass turnovers, etc.) Now if they can clean these things up over the course of the season, they can pose a problem for anyone in the nation come tourney time. Tech and BYU will be great opportunities to see how good we really are. I'm looking forward to it. Go Miners, give em' hell.
