Futility has taken up residence in Notre Dame Stadium. The Fighting Irish lost for the sixth time in as many games at home, falling to Air Force 41-24 -- one week after Navy snapped Notre Dame's 43-game win ...

Each week when you think it can't get worse, it gets worse.

I still can't get over decision not to kick for three or punt against Navy when it was the 4th down and 8 to go. That was really a TERRIBLE decision, and then the quarterback getting sacked for a loss on that play was so ugly. Thankfully we don't play Army this year. It would be really embarassing to get beat by all three military schools in the same season.

Its pleasing to see Notre Dame struggling. Perhaps Mr. Weis should have spent more time coaching his team and less time suing his doctor during the beginning of the season.
Notre Dame fans - we are not sorry to see your team having a tough year. It happens to most programs at some point, even Notre Dame!
Thanks for providing an entertaining sideshow of a year for those of us that don't care a lick about ND! Its also great to see the media riding the wave and reporting on this every week - what a blast!

This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Notre Flame fans and all of the unwarranted arrogance silenced across the nation. If they lose to Duke, will the fire Jabba the Weis?

again, it's not the nd offense that's been the problem. IT'S the DEFENSE. every team that has beaten them has scored nore than 31 points. the game the won the team socred 9 points. they can't stop anyone. look corwin brown is awful. he was def coord for the ny jets. i don't remember them being in the super bowl with corwin on board. what is worse, they lose most of the defense
next year. look at the stats, IT'S the DEFENSE!!!

it's sad to see NBC broadcasting the USAF soundly whipping ND. We would much rather have watched the exciting Illini / Ohio St. game. But, we were somewhat stuck with ND. The Fightin' Irish have now become irrelevant. I bet NBC wishes it didn't have a long term deal with the Irish.

Here's a basic rule to ponder:

Great NFL coaches don't make great college coaches and vice versa.

Sure wish coaches would get this basic maxim.

Ron Zook in 3rd year at Illinois beats Ohio State on the road. Charlie Weis in 3rd year at ND gives worst season in 119 year football history. Fire AD White (hired O'Leary, Ty and Charlie). Fire Weis now and hire Tom Clements (having a nice year coaching Brett Favre on the 7-1 Packers).

You should have turned the channel to ABC, they were broadcasting the Illinois / Ohio State game, not NBC

I agree. I think the issue is that Weiss was distracted throughout the off-season with his failed lawsuit.

That aside, it has to be a bitter (and well-deserved) pill for the Irish faithful to be paying millions to a coach, only to hear this:

"Where in fact is the breakdown? If I had that answer, we wouldn't have the problems," Irish coach Charlie Weis said.
"That's my biggest frustration. As a teacher, I'll take that as I'm not getting the job done."

I'd get fired on the spot if I had this weak of an answer for such poor performance by my team....and I make quite a bit less than Mr. Weiss...
