The AD has a pretty decent overall Ncaa sports record, frequent Ncaa titles in Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis, wrestling, etc. But when it comes to football and bball, he is guaranteed to hire the wrong coach. I love London but he can't coach on this level. Bennett is average at best and his recruiting shows it. UVA needs to stop trying to keep up with Va Tech and get into the mind state of the Notre Dame's and Ohio State's of the college fb world, and the Duke and Kentucky's of the bball world. Anything else is plain out unproductive as we have seen over the years. When you can say George Welsh accomplished more than any coach in school history, you have serious issues.
London's recruiting is just picking up, and it' going to be tougher to compete in CBB in the ACC. Bennett won coach of the year at WAZZu, turning them from an annual cellar dweller to a very good tournament team. Both deserve a little more time

London is out of his league !!! Next time hire the beer truck driver (and not a cop). We had the best ACC schedule to do well and we blew it. Who will come to a school that is bad and the coaches are terrible. Bennett will never win in the ACC when recuits are told don't shoot...we only play defense.
tell Billy Donovan that.

Head coach Mike London says, "The streak is what it is, and people will continue to talk about it, but that gap has been narrowed, in recruiting. They've won on the field, but the gap is closing."
All that above don't amount to a hill of beans if the scoreboard says you lost.
Closing the recruiting gap means nothing when you don't have the staff to develop the kids. Al Groh installed his worthless son as OC and refused to make changes. Look what happened to him. London is sailing the same boat with Poindexter, Hagans, and who ever else is lurking on the sidelines. Enough with the alumni solidarity! Coach, you better hire real coaches with real experience, or join the unemployment line.

True, those key positions came from the NFL...the NFL doormat. Check their resumes. Lazor sucked so bad he couldn't keep a job for more than a year. Reid spent one year as a LB coach with one of the worst defenses in the entire NFL.

There's nothing like inconsistency to build a team. It's UVA, it's going to take baby steps, it's not like UVA is a top tier SEC team.

I agree the coaching cost the game. Fake field goal with the wind at your back and 4th & 8....DUMB. UVA would have been up by 2 scores and grabbing the momentum bug time. Clock management was a huge. Even the VT fans were blown away he did not try to stop the clock to give UVA a chance to come back. Instead a dumb decision lead to another loss. I wouldn't say UVA out played VT. Look at time of possession, first downs, number of plays, and yardage. They beat UVA solidly in each category, yet UVA kept it close. Kudos to the players for that. UVA's defense played great but gave in at times and VT took advantage. UVA was in a prime position to win this game and the coaching blew it away. I think, had UVA kicked and gotten the FG UVA would have been up 17-7 and would have had all the momentum. VT feeling pressure would have folded and UVA would have won.
London, if you learn anything from watching Frank Beamer's coaching and film it would be to take the points in tight games

Here's a post. While I did not make it to the game, I watched it on TV. We outplayed Tech and should have won the game. Poor coaching cost us the win. Not only my analysis (arm chair quarterback) but that of the commentators who really know the game. Poor coaching and poor time management cost us.
We need a new coach and a new direction for this program.

Of course, had it worked he would have been a genius, just as Les Miles. It's easy to be an arm chair coach, but at the end of the day it's execution. Was their mistakes, sure, but it's not like Les Miles has made the same mistakes, or profited off of the same gambles. One fake FG was directly responsible for a victory over Florida that lead to their National Championship 3 years ago. Heck, we don't even have to leave the state to talk about special team and trick plays, it's called Beamer ball. I get it, it's a heart breaking loss, but London deserves more time at UVA than say a top tier SEC team, for one, the talent simply isn't here. I could coach Alambama over a Nick Saban led UVA.
