There are only 2 options and the decision must be made in the fall practice sessios. Either he starts or he red shirts. No BACK-UP for Matt. Of course this is only my opinion but it is the most definitive one you will get!....And I really believe that this is how Pete Carrol is thinking.

Yup, I agree. I think he should just redshirt period. Corp can have this year, and Mustain is a more-than-adequate backup. Next year, we begin the Barkley dynasty.

....But would it not be great to see Matt with the BEST "O" line in college football?....Matt is going to win the starting job and then we will have a really great team on both offense and defense !!!....

I just don't want to hustle this guy in "a la" Jimmy Clausen and watch him get rattled around for a season. Look how long it's taking Clausen to come around. I'd rather he take that season to get used to the speed of the game at this level, and then get 3-4 good, productive years out of him before he takes off to the NFL for his millions. If anything, I have to give kudos to CRN over at UCLA for sitting on Kevin Prince for a season last year. Corp is fine. Mustain is fine. We have the luxury of letting Barkley marinate for a season, so why not? As far as the O-line goes, there's always new personnel coming in to fill in as people depart. PC always finds a way to get quality people in there.

They won't start him this year. Aaron Corp should win it over both and then Matt will have a full 3-4 years in him.

Yeah but if he has a good year he'll probably do what sanchez did.

I meant to say if Aaron corp has a good 2 years he'll probably do what sanchez did, so most likely the current freshman will have a good 2 to 3 years I mean.

Why play Matt Barkley in 2009? Because USC has nothing to lose!.........Just another time they'll be eliminated from any National Championship contention, the BCS (the truest of all barometers of National Championships in major College Football)

If there was a playoff you would be shutting your trap. The BCS establishes nothing other than the fact we need a playoff.

LOL......If there was a playoff, Ohio State would be eliminated in the first round......:\ Yep, we need a playoff to establish Ohio State doesn't belong in the playoff or the BCS National Championship.........The last 3 bowl appearances for Ohio State.....0-3........the last 3 bowl appearances for LSU.......3-0.........And out of the last 6 years, LSU has 2 National Championships......Florida has 2 National Championships.........the only 2 schools in the country that can say they have 2 BCS National Championships..........

An SEC hasn't beaten USC in what 20 years? Honestly there is no way you can trash talk em.

Now, if you count the worthless trophies, the AP and UPI......LSU won one in 1958. That would make 3 NC's. But, anything other than the BCS is worthless. The BCS is the true barometer of the true national champion of major college football......:\

The pac 10 I believe is 11-7 against SEC over the past 10-12 years so I don't think your argument holds much weight.

So, you're a pac-1 wantabe too, I see.....not just Arthur Deep hole boy.........There sure are a lot of defectors to a weaker conference, the Pac-1. Let's see now.........The Pac 1 has 1 national championship over the last 11 years. The SEC has 5 national championships........Your argument doesn't compute and has zero weight..........
