Wrong. And what is all of this about UNR being a "scrub" university. It has one of the foresmost seismology and geology programs in the country.

Actually, Dave, YOU'RE wrong. An NCSU student drew up Tuffy in the 60's and he IS an original to NCSU. Therefore, UNR stole him. They're just jealous because their logo isn't nearly as good as NCSU, so they felt compelled to take what isn't theirs.

And as for the seismology and geology programs- I know those are important jobs and all, but NCSU has the largest Engineering program and nearly the best Chemistry and Biochemistry programs. All three of those kick geology/seismology butt.

Nevada has not "just started using the logo". The toughie logo has been Nevada's since the university opened and then as time past they(nevada)started using the newer side viewed logo but the toughie logo was theres from the start. If you disagree go and look it up. Also if i remember correctly nevada O.K.'D ncsu's use of the older logo

Another thing about this argument is, is that neither us(nevada)or ncsu even use that particular logo as a primary and nevada actually allowed the usage of the logo by ncsu. Also if you want to say we stole the logo look at yours, the S in there seems to look alot like Stanfords does

Actually Nevada had its logo in 1920 NC state 1921. If both schools play against each other I'm going for the wolfpack lol. They got it from how they teamed up like a pack of wolfs. I'm not sure about how ncstate got that name. Go Pack. Wolf. Pack

This would be a good rivalry game. Reply if u think this would be better then the rebels pack game. Unlv vs Nevada. How ever having a civil war cannon is better then a wolf

I'm not going to opine on the merits of nc state's infringement action (without even looking, I'm sure they stole it like they have stolen every other marketing idea [other than unitards] they've ever tried), but please don't refer to them as "Carolina"... ncstatelol is the preferred nomenclature.

I'm still waiting for someone from Carolina to refute the fact that Nevada had the logo almost 40 years before.
Not only did Nevada already have our logo first, but so did Wisconsin. It would be a fair assumption that NCSU stole the Nevada logo and stuck it on the Wisconsin badger's body.
I have nothing against NCSU, but this is definitely not something you'd ever hope to win in court.
The only reason it's even an issue is because Nevada is gaining national recognition. The top hat wolf logo isn't even a current mascot. It's part of the "retro" movement. A lot of the alumni are grasping onto it in rememberance of their times at Nevada.
For the record, the lady at NCSU that is in charge of this needs to be fired. Considering that there are only 2 teams in the entire NCAA with the mascot of a wolf, you'd think this "upstart logo-stealing university" would have been found out years ago.
