Doesn't surprise me. Between the crappy government education he recieved and more than likely a lack luster effort on his part, this is not unfamiliar to many players entering into the NCAA. This is why student first needs to be emphasized from pop warner through out highschool.

We will probably never see him suit up as a Buckeye.

Its pretty sad when someone only needs a 17 on an ACT to play football at OSU or anywhere else. This is the so-called "student". No wonder the schools will not release information on what classes these kids are taking. OSU allows credits for playing football. OSU is a good school for academics, but a disappoinment for allowing these "students" to enroll and stay eligible via lightweight classes.

all varsity sports are 2 credit hours per quarter for each athlete. If you knew how much time these kids put into thier sport, then you would realize it should be much more.

I like this kid's attitude. Life throws obstacles at us everyday and it's how we deal with those obstacles that determines the character of the man. Can't wait to watch Carlos play or should I say Mr. Hyde.

Has anyone ever heard of "kinesiology"? This is a glorified title for a major in gym class, i.e. phys ed. As I recall, nearly all "student athletes" at the admittedly highly-rated Univ of Michigan are "kinesiology" majors. That said, there are many members of the OSU football program (and other big-time BCS-conf. programs) who are wonderful student-athletes. Ohio State has perenially led the Big-10 in academic all-conference football players for about a decade. Are there some dumb bunnies? Sure. But lighten up on the blanket indictment, or you might have to compare your academic acheivements to, say, Craig Krenzel.

Yeah because ND has been so dominant over the last 2 decades.

Hate to read this report, but the young man seems to have his head screwed on straight and knows just what he has to do in order to get on the field next year. The advice from Tress was right on the money!

I agree on the surface this could potentially spell trouble. However all the negativity that flows from some of these comments is unbelievable! You guys need some depression medication and maybe your life will be a little more enjoyable.. Hopefully this kid gets a chance to show what he's got.. Not everyone is cut-out for the classroom. Trust me; it's very atypical to get a 25 on an ACT as a 7th grader! Be realistic..

You are a joke...seriously, if your 7th grader is scoring a 25 on his ACT...maybe he should pass some of his intelligence on to you...

OSU should pass on this kid - I don't think that he would last the four years of study - That is if he wouldn't jump ship.

I don't like or dislike ND. But, you don't need to dislike them to recognize they have have sucked big time the last few years. Your thinking the Buckeyes suck wouldn't have anything to do with the '05 Fiesta Bowl would it?
