Apr 18, 2013 Full story: TwinCities 89

Last year, Ted Thompson was the bold one. The Green Bay Packer general manager was the cavalier chasing up his draft board for potential starters on defense.

Just like The Favre led Pack finally gave John Ekway his first SB trophy
The bears have no super bowl window, they traded it to Denver the day they got Cuntler and will never have window as long as he is in Chicago. As of right now the bears only have a frogs bhole instead of a window and I hear those things are pretty much as closed as it gets.

Going back to the thread topic (someone has to) I am really starting to think a trade isn't going to happen. Sounds like the top 10 (though not the order of the picks) is shaping up, and there is looking like a pretty good chance that there will be trades happening way earlier in the round. I'm revising my prediction back to BPA regardless of position. Good thing that the Packers can use pretty much whoever that will be.

Impossible to tell but fun if to speculate what might happen.

If there is a lot of trading in the 1st and a few QBs are drafted before the Packers that means the BPA is looking pretty good for the Packers. Even if a top prospect doesn't fall BPA looks good.

I wonder what time the Packers 26th pick will be, I might be able to watch it before going into work since the draft starts 3am my time.

In most of the latest mocks, Geno Smith isn't even going in the first round any more. If the Bills take a QB, it's apparently going to be Nassib, not Smith. That'll shake things up quite a bit.

Joeckel, Fisher, and Johnson all going in the top 5? And no QBs or RBs picked in the first round? It could happen. Wow. This is going to be the least predictable draft I can remember.

There's even a reasonable chance that Star Lotulelei could fall to 26. Wouldn't that be a treat.

That is a great haul for the vikes. Floyd was a no brainer and I am amazed he fell so far. Why didn’t anyone else want him? Rhodes looks to be a solid pick and they really needed a corner. Both should be able to start.

In the end you can just view it as you have Patterson, no sense in argue about the price paid for him (which I thought was insane considering the amount of depth in this draft). The point is he is a Viking now and we will see how it turns out. I don’t expect too much from him this year, as with all rookie WRs, but in a few years he could really be good. The Vikings will also be able to add another vet WR after cuts so no rush to make him the immediate #2WR on the team.‘Crazy Ricky’ has added 5 first rd players in 2 yrs, that is pretty good if they all pan out.. I think 4 will at least.

4 picks for a WR who is a developmental experiment?
the other 2 were nice.the corner is a question with tackling ( if you believe Jon Gruden, and the other 2)..Floyd was expected as high as 3 at one point and fell to 23 or so,so that was pretty solid.
Does Minn have any more 2nd,3rd,4th or 7th rounders left?
Floyd was very solid,,The corner sounds pretty good but needs to develop, the WR is a boom or bust,so if the Vikes let him return kicks and Punts and learn WR Wright and Jennings they may have something but 4 picks?

Lol...how many Superbowl trophies are in that trophy case in Minneapolis? How many? Huh? I didn't hear you? Did you say none? That's what I thought you said.

You traded away the 2nd best player ever on that loser team of yours last year in Harvin. This Jennings is going to improve Ponder's interception to completion ration think again. He's lost more steps than a Lawerence Welk polka over the last three years.

Defense wins championships.

TT got it right last night - Jones is a beast, ballhawk and well-above average pass rusher with an undefendable "swim" move not unlike another Packer hall-of-famer, Reggie White.

Concentrate more on the Vikequeens winning at least one Superbowl in your lifetime instead of trying to find a reason why the Packers always end up in first place in the North.

From what ive read and heard from everyone Jones is going to be a serious Pass Rusher and the speed we need,Im am really hoping hes not the next coming of Mike Neal but hes rated a whole lot higher the Neal was and infact, hes rated behind Floyd and Richardson

Very well put. Jones was Kipper-rated a 90. Late first round or earlier.

Running backs are a dime a dozen in this draft.

Although I'd like to see them make a move for the Honey Badger.

Im happy with resigning Cedric Bensona nd pairing him with DuJuan Harris as long as TT drafts a bigger, stronger and better blocking FB and we get bigger and stronger inside ( center) and both tackles.
IF Bulaga takes LT ( not a great run blocker but very good Pass blocker), we will need to improve at RT ( run blocking) unless they run Barclay out there,as im sure he will improve this year after his 5 games last year

There goes John Jenkins,Keenan Allen,Jordan Reed..a few more picks and GB picks,i wonder who they will pick?
I wonder if TT would pick a qb late in the 3rd as a backup to Rodgers and a possible trade candidate in a year or 2 after a team loses a qb for whatever reason,OR wants to upgrade
