I am from Columbus, Ohio and I work at The Ohio State University.
I have followed Terrelle Pryor since he came in as a Freshman and I
noticed his potentual and his talent from the start. The Ohio State football program did not work with him to nurture his young talent at quarterback and they did a poor job of working with him as a mentor. Archie Griffin is the big shot on campus as the
Director of the Alumni Association and he could have been a mentor to Terrelle and other Athletes here at OSU. Terrelle did not have
older mentor assistance to help guide in helping in his maturity.
This is one of the positive factors about Coach Woody Hayes. Coach Hayes worked very closely with his players and he wouldn't have permitted his players to do as they pleased and run free around town as they pleased. Maurice Clarett had the same situation when he was here at Ohio State. He freely ran the streets and got into trouble and Coach Tressel could not control him and didn't care. I am aware that you can not watch 100 athletes 24 by 7, but if you have the biggest and richest athletic program in the nation you better find a way.

I agree. Pryor's undeniable talent has served to help insulate him from the consequences of immature behavior since he was in high school. Without mentoring, he will quite possibly self-destruct. Maybe he'll get what he needs if he signs with the NFL, but I'm skeptical. Too bad.

Your right, but what's being asked from the NCAA is not so much constant monitoring as much as when you know or are notified of trouble, or what appears to be possible trouble for an athlete, you must act in a positive manner.

Positve being the acts of directly confronting the individuals involved immediately-

Notifying any and all people and departments that need to be of the events that caused the concern-

If your unsure, going to your direct superior and puting the burden on them to act by informing them of the situation-

Making the player not only aware of your concern but also making the player understand the situation- or any like it- can not happen again (A.K.A. proper punishment).
