"We live in a cynical world." That's one of the seminal lines of script from the movie "Jerry Maguire," which is essentially the story of sports agent Leigh Steinberg.

to all you OSU haters and ESPN pussies. everyone hates a winner. period. I am proud of tressel for protecting his players I would expect nothing else from my leader. just like in the military, do what you have to do to win and keep your men from harm.
scam newton and reggie bushleauge got paid big money to play football for their schools and won heisman's, Pete couldcareless runs to the nfl but osu guys sell their own stuff, take the money and go pay for tattoos and tressel finds out later and reprimands his players and now he and the 5 players are "BAD GUYS" you all are nuts, hypocrites, liars and cheats as well in your life and jobs and none bigger than the ncaa idiots. PAY THESE KIDS FOR PLAYING BALL AND BRINGING MULTI MILLIONS TO THEIR SCHOOLS. HAVE A PLAYOFF SYSTEM and let's cut the BS and the hypocrisy. real fans of football, OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, and great coaches, love and support you Jim Tressel. O-H-I-O FOREVER. GO BUCKEYES. You know who i feel sorry for? the poor schools we play in 2011. we will be so fired up and mad we will crush them to prove ourselves....again

Well, let's simply see what the facts are. In April 2010 Tressel discovered he had 5
players who had violated NCAA rules and said nothing (a breach of contract). Knowing
this, he allowed those 5 players-in-violation (and therefore inelligible to play) to
play the entire season. Then, when it hit the fan in December, he lied to the NCAA
and to his bosses at OSU (a more egregious breach of contract and ethics) that he hadn't
known anything about it prior to December.

The guy breached contract twice, played with known-inelligible players for an entire season
and lied to his bosses. In my mind he should have been (or be) fired. If the fine and
2 game suspension stand as the only punishment, OSU itself will be tarnished in
reputation for its failure to address the situation adequately.
