Finally a comment worth reading! How does gene smith still have a fricken job. Theres no way any of this went down and he didnt know about it, and his surprised and dissappointed comment about the sanctions just shows how errogant and ignorant he is especial since the ncaa came out with a list of sanction penalties they would impose on the bucks in may after the spring game...fact a bowl ban was on there. why did nobody raise a flag when the other schools opted to pull out of their bowls comin up now theyll get to play in 2013. Does everyone realize that we have a national championship coach that wont even be allowed to play in one till 2014. he was decieved by that errogant sob gene smith and all the players that want to leave should be allowed to and be elligable to play at other schools. down with smith and gee

A one year bowl ban is not the way Meyer wanted to go into this I am sure. But feel lucky OSU, the NCAA Cronies were probably exchanging Christmas gifts when they handed down this fine.

Look man, OSU is not a repeat offender for the as*hole NCAA to punish a school that just self-punished! The piling it on by the NCAA gives the NCAA a look of a gang!

The bowl ban punishes a class of student-athletes that have nothing to do with the wrong-doings of people who kept it to themselves! The e

This extra punishment is similar to ME KILLING YOUR MOTHER AND SISTER FOR THE WRONG-DOINGS OF YOUR BROTHER! That's exactly what the narco cartels do! The collateral damage from these extra punishments include the whole buckeye nation which again has nothing to do with the doings of people not longer associated with the program.

"Failure to monitor" is TOO BIG OF CONCEPT for the NCAA to have and enforce since anything that the NCAA may consider "deviant" can fall under the "failure to monitor." You can't monitor everyone, everywhere, and everytime! This is typical abuse of power on behalf of the NCAA that needs temper its power or reconstitute is laws to be aligned with our society's demographic and social realities!

Honestly, I only expected next year to be a 9 or 10 win season, not a NC contender anyways. But I have to ask the question, why didn't Gene Smith impose a bowl ban this season when we aren't good at all. He handled the whole situation wrong. And I STILL believe Tressel took the fall for those guys, and now he has a show-cause penalty.

It really is a major slap in the wrist after what they did to USC.

Pete Carroll and Sanchez knew what was going down at USC, they both ran. Stop crying USC, you guys were "allowed" to play for 3 years before you got smacked. Quit crying...SMH

The punishment is a little heave but not out of line. I will be curious to see how future punishments go.

There is no guarantee that, had tOSU sat out of the bowls this year, the NCAA wouldn't have still banned next year.

I am thinking they were coming over the top no matter what Ohio State's self imposed ban was. They were getting criticism for being too soft and wanted to make a statement.

I agree, next year wasn't going to be our year anyway.

Looks like we will just have to settle for playing spoiler for TSUN at the end of the season! Ha!

I don't think it's all that heavy, honestly, people were thinking our program would disappear and not be competitive. But this punishment won't hinder us one bit. GO BUCKS!

Every school would be considered conducting illegal activity in the eyes of the NCAA cronies. Who can watch these kids all the time? If the NCAA had the manpower, they would follow players around town, into nightclubs, or even bar parking lots... The NCAA monitoring system and what encapsulates it is all B.S. Deco and you know it!
