Last week I said it was gut-check time. When WVU played at Maryland, they delivered, especially in the 2nd half when Maryland rallied. WVU's offense didn't exactly close the door on their last drive, but they did limit the Terps' options. It was the defense that came up with the big stop.

Now it's time to prove, NOT that you're good enough, but that you're BETTER. There was very little difference between LSU & WVU in Death Valley last year. The primary difference in the game involved a missed FG & a blocked FG. Otherwise, the teams practically played even.

This year LSU unquestionably has the better defense, but WVU unquestionably has the better offense. So, here are your keys to success.

Defense - Shut down LSU's running game and make Jerrett Lee beat you. Yes, he's playing well, which means he has yet to make a mistake. YOU can make that happen. Don't let the Ref's get into your heads. Keep making those monster tackles. The Ref's will get it right eventually.

Running Backs - For crying out loud, please hold onto the ball! Have a love for the ball; be reluctant to give it up. Receivers - See Running Backs, and don't be afraid to come back to the ball, when Geno gets into trouble.

Line - Make no mistake; this is a seriously good team you face. You'll have to block like the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Geno, these are for you.#1. Shake off the fumble; that one's on the Ref's. Until that game, all the Ref's under the same circumstance ruled an incomplete pass.(Did you also notice the same Ref's who called TWO helmet-helmet contact fouls on WVU, didn't call it against the Maryland player who knocked your helmet off.)#2. Shake off the interception; that one's on Ivan. Trust him; he will do a better job.#3. Don't try to do it all or make something happen when a play breaks down. Get rid of the ball or take the sack and start over on the next play. It's one thing to carry a team on your back; it's another to allow them to ride you.

Special Teams - OK, you guys aren't looking too bad. Now, you'll have to look Tony-the-Tiger Gerrrrrrrrate!!! You were part of the difference last year. You could be the difference this year. Let's make that the right difference.

This is pressure cooker time. Everybody, save for LSU fans, wants you to win. Expectations have been unreasonably high since before the season began. I'm not asking you to meet anyone's expectations but your own. I'm not asking you to win this game, though I would like to see it happen as much as anyone out there. All I want is to see you give it your all/your best; win or lose, go down swinging. No matter what the outcome, I'm with you; I'm still Mountaineer Proud! GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!!!!!
