Thanks to Texas Tech, UTEP heads back to a bowl

After a four-year drought, UTEP is headed back to a bowl thanks to Texas Tech. Texas Tech's 35-20 victory over Houston guaranteed the Miners a spot in the postseason, as only six Conference USA teams are bowl eligible in a league with six assured bowl tie-ins. Athletic director Bob Stull said UTEP could learn its destination as soon as Monday, ... Full Story

wow i love the fan support...
Hey they are doing way better than before. The problem isn't the team, the players, the school, or even the coach. The problem is all you fat drunk fans who wish UTEP was UT or Boise or something. How do you expect a kid to play with that much pressure and hatred on him. Thats also why Barbee left because he had no support at all when times where hard only when the team began winning.

Mmmm no, i'm pretty sure he left for the money, not that its a bad thing, just saying im sure he could care less about the lack of support if he's getting paid big bucks

I wouldn't pay a wooden nickel to see the Miners in any bowl this year. Bowl games are handed out to anyone these days just to make money. What I am trying to say is the Miners are not worthy of any bowl appearance this year.

Miners win six games against opponents that had a combined win-loss records of 20-51. They lost or got their asses kicked in by opponents that had a combined win-loss records of 37-35. How can a real 'football fan' feel that this team is worthy of a bowl game. The Miners are just as pathetic as their coach. We need a respectable program here, not the annual crap that takes the field every year!

Both cbs sports and rivals predict Utep playing Florida International in the New Orleans Bowl on December 18th. Those are just projections but they are fairly accurate now that the regular season is over for most schools now but lets hope it's not true. New Orleans is the least amount of money made for a bowl and is not a very exciting game to look forward to if it is Florida International. Utep is the 6th ranked team who is bowl eligable in the conference so chances are they get selected last out of the six and don't have any other choice. I may be the only one but I hope Utep plays another team them projected.
Too smart for any of you

Yes, but it's still a bowl game...what bowl are the longhorns playing in?
Oh!!! That's right!!!
They're not!!!!!!!!!
Hahahahahaha!!!
Light the tower! Hahahahahaha!!!
Hook'em horns? Hahahahahaha!!
The new longhorn hand salute:
(preferably the right hand)
1. Start with the usual "hook'em" sign.
2. Now, extend thumb outward fully.
3. Now, retract the pinky finger.
4. You should wind up a "finger gun".
5. Now, with the thumbside down and "pointer" finger pointing in the direction of the ceiling, place the thumb up against the middle of your forehead.
Everytime you hear "the eyes of Texas are upon you", or the longhorn "fight song", be a chum and salute the longhorns.0

A simple article about UTEP making a bowl. Another game for some seniors who have busted their butts for the program. Why is there so much hatred coming from this story. You people have no idea how much it means to the kids.

You know, I've complained about the football program all year. There's no reason this team can't bank on winning 70% of their in-conference games each year; C-USA is the weakest D-1 conference in the nation (by far).

The leadership at the college is complacent with mediocrity, so why fight it? They have made a bowl, and if it's in New Mexico, that's pretty good f/this university. It's a different dynamic at UTEP, one only people that have attended universities elsewhere would understand.

Truth of the matter - very little can be done until Natalicio retires. Perhaps the academics will get a review at that time as well.

Go Miners and congratulations!

Do they really "deserve" to go to a Bowl?....I guess to get to a Post Season Bowl Game, you just have to win at least "2" games.....UTEP Sucked this year....really, "a bowl?"..Kidding right?

Barbee left because he never had any intention of staying here. He used UTEP as a stepping stone just like the other coaches before him. Plus the fact that everyone around here hated his pompass attitude. Thank you for leaving Barbee. Just saying.

Yep, your right FIRE coach Price the SON that is. Lets get a real offensive coordinator in here. The only reason Price's kid has a job is simply that because he's Price's kid. While we're at it let's get rid of that recruiting coach Jeff Banks that guy is worthless. Let's get a coach in here that can build both as an offensive coordinator and recruiting a pair of coaches the caliber of coach Patterson. Look what he did in one year with the defense. Better days for UTEP's defensive are ahead unless Stull doesn't do something to keep Paterson her $$$$$$$$$$

For all of you complaining about the UTEP program. What a bunch of Morons. How many of you actually goto the games and support the team. Keep in mind UTEP is going for Tier 1 status. To accomplish this, not only do you need to meet the academic requirements, but community support to the sports program plays a role as well. Yes I would like to see UTEP do better and compete every year for the CUSA title, but lack of support and money makes it extremely difficult to bring in top recruits here. You got to work with what you got. For all the complainers out there and Price haters provide solutions to the problems not just complain about them.
