LSU film study: Tigers give up yards but still hammer West Virginia

For those that look for dark linings in silver clouds, yes, the LSU defense allowed a whopping 463 yards passing.

The defense was set up to give up the short yardage passes. It worked like it was designed. Only two or three plays broke out more than five to eight yards. Third and Chevis did good.

Yep, looks bad on a stat sheet, but it's called Bend but don't break! For the most part I believe they did that and the the most important stat in the game shows that... the scoreboard.

Most of the yards were given up when they played deep zone. Safeties were back 25 yards and then WVU threw an 18 yard crossing route, it only takes one missed tackle to turn 18 yards into 65! Great read by the WVU QB and OC to see that. But when it counted LSU was able to come up with the bigger plays!
