and to think ND hired a superstar OC, to take them from the "depths" T.W. led makes me wonder if those in charge really made the right decision in hiring their savior. could it really be much worse?$2 Million a year for this? I love it! ND is getting what they deserve!!!!

Big deal. Its not like the Irish won't climb back to the top. Well let the enemies of the Irish enjoy this hour of joy.

ND has the player talent. Problem is lack of coaching/AD talent, only soundbites and happy talk. There is no football system for the kids to buy in on (power I, spread, wishbone, etc.) team. Charlie was reacting with the back to training camp theme, which only discovered he has good running backs. Clausen and Charlie are 2 way over hyped guys who have never produced on a college field. The ND AD should be fired for causing this mess. Pathetic leadership from the AD. Sledding gets no easier. Next week they see a decent Purdue team with a QB with 16 TD/1 Int this year. Sad state of affairs from a program that used to have reserves 3 deep, unlike now when Charlie promises a position for 4 years like he did to Clausen in the limo.

"Its not like the Irish won't climb back to the top."

Buckeye, they haven't won a bowl game since 1194. What do you mean "climb back to the top"? They havent been in NC contention since 1989 with Tony Rice.

Wake up. This thing has been DEAD for almost 20 years.

The AD has certainly gotten a pass through this whole football mess, hasn't he? He turns down Willingham at the last moment to get O'Leary (due to the whole Irish Catholic angle), has to fire his golden boy after his forged resume surfaces. Pissed off Willingham in the process and had to pay him more to come to South Bend. Turns out that he wasn't the answer, either. Goes out and gets this genius offensive coordinator from the Patriots who is really struggling. Hmmm, great job Dr. White. What other sports do you plan on ruining here at ND?

It is time that Notre Dame is forced to join a conference for ALL their sports programs. No conference should be allowed to play them in their schedule unless it is another independent.

Hey, why doesn't ND try to grab their own NBC TV contract? Good God, a team of pregnant women could probably beat them now...

Weis needs to quit beating and blaming his players and look in the mirror. This program has done nothing but go down hill with each coaching move they have made starting with forcing Holtz out. It was easy for Charley the Hutt in the pros and his first two years at ND. He was given the talent and only had to coach the schemes. But now he also is finding out that he has to recruit. This means not only recruiting the top talent but talent for the holes that you need to fill. Now that he has crowned Jimmy as quarterback, how many top QB's do you think he's going to be able to recruit any time soon? A kid would have to be a moron to waste his career sitting on the bench at ND behind newly ordained Clausen when there are many other programs where he'e have a good shot to play. Frankly Clausen has not impressed even overlooking the fact that he is a freshman. He has looked slow and about 1/2 step behind. The speed of the college game may be too much for him. But he's the best that Charley has. Charley's ineptness at recruiting is glaring with Demetrius Jones. What is an option QB doing on this team in the first place? And then for Weis to lead the kid on to think that he actually had a shot only to find out that Clausen was his man all along should make all current players and those being recruited to take pause.
