I've been an OSU Fan all my life but have been disappointed in the past few years when the season starts OSU is scheduled to play College teams that are not able to compete with OSU such as Marshell and Ohio University. Why don't you schedule games where both teams can play a game where the competition is equal instead of so one sided. Don't say there aren't enough teams to be able to do this either because if you look at Notre Dames schedule they have had really tough teams to face such as Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State. I love the game of football but not when you have teams playing against one another that shouldn't be just to keep your ratings for win vs.losses up.
If you want to be considered the leading teams in the nation lets get there with the games more evenly matched up and then you know you really have earned the title.

Take a look at virtually every powerhouse team's schedule. They all play less talented teams, for the most part, at the beginning of the season. However, look at the fact that OSU played USC at the fromt of their '08 and '09 seasons. We played Miami this year. These are generally "tune ups" for the conference schedule. It makes $ for the less fortunate schools and gives them an opportunity to play some big boys and fine tune their gameplans for their seasons. It's a win-win situation for both sides and isn't likely to change in the foreseeable future.
