Gophers win at Purdue for first time since 1990

Full story: TwinCities.com

In its first game as a ranked team in three years, the University of Minnesota played out of character for three quarters with nine of its 12 penalties and it had little offensive punch, but still found a way ...

Purdue is terrible.

The Goophers might win again next week against Northwestern. After that, look for drunken Timmy's team to lose the rest of their games.

Nice job again for the Gophers. 7-1 is great. But we really haven't played anybody except Illinois. The last 3 games against Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa will tell if they've made real progress or just improvement.

So they must play Ohio, USC and Texas everygame (and win) right? First, it's the first few games are a cake walk... they should win. Now when it comes to confernece play, people are still saying... that is a weak team!? They team is winning the games they should and still getting dragged thru the mud. I'm sorry "Reatrd" that they lost to Ohio.

Congrats to the Gophers.

But once again I was unable to watch it due to the fact that it was not on normal cable TV. I haven't been able to watch a Gophers game in years. Not a good way to build up "Gopher Nation".

The sign of a good and continually improving team is the ability to win even when you don't play your best. The offense was spotty throughout, but the defense came to play the entire game. Other than a couple of dumb penalties along the sideline caused by trying to be too aggressive the defense really looked good! Having Sherels back at cornerback really made a difference, he is light years better than Collado.
Way to go Gophers and some love for Brewster as well.

Phid - I don't really think it's within the U's control what channel picks up their games. But with winning comes better TV coverage. If the Gophers finish strong and go to a New Years Day bowl this year, they should be favored to contend for the conference championship next year due to so many returning players and undoubtedly will pick up some better TV slots.

Give us a break this team hasnt looked this good since Lou Holtz was the coach and now the entire nation is looking at this team in a whole differant way then they have in past years so keep the negative thoughts to your self and let the rest of the true fans enjoy this for as long as it might last, Imagine what this team can do next year in there own stadum :)

Phid-Call your cable company. Ask them why they don't put on The Ben Ten Network.
Congrat's to the Gopher Football Team and Coach Brewster. To Win 2 games on the road speaks wonders for his program and in such a short time.
Maybe we should nickname this team "Brewster's Millions" for the potential income this team will give to the entire Gopher Sports Program.

I never expected the Gophers to be 7-1 at this point in the season. I never thought we would have to rely on the defense to pull out victories. And I've never bled more maroon and gold than this year. I think the team is reflective of Brewster's energy. That being said, I feel the offense hasn't had that big explosive game, yet. Plus, the Gophers seem to play to the level of their opponent. Before I start smelling roses, I need to see that complete effort consistently the next four games, because they are not going to be easy. Go GOPHERS!!!

Lemme add this: We need to sell out the Dome next week, and we need the students to make the treck across the river.

I don't know anyone who has the Big Ten Network. I've look at multiple TVs in St. Paul and St. Cloud and can't find that channel anywhere. Today I was able to find three or four college games on cable TV when the Gophers were playing, but no Gophers.

But yes, my beef is with the existence of the Big Ten Network.

This also ticks me off because I do have football season tickets and have had them for many years and suffered thru many bad games. The answer is Dish or Direct TV. They do carry the Big Ten Network I was told. Another thing. Gopher Basketball after suffering years with Munson, we now have one of the finest college coaches in the nation and you know he will turn this program around. I would be awfully upset not being able to see those games. If you do go with a dish and cancel Comcast be very explicit why you are doing it and who you are going with. If enough customers do it maybe Comcast will get it through their thick skulls to start offering it. Good Luck.

I don't know what cable package you have, but I have been a Comcast Customer for years and I have been able to watch every single Gopher Game this year. Most of the games have been on the Big Ten Network, but the Illinois game was on ESPN and yesterday's was on ESPN classic.

I actually find the Big Ten Network very interesting. On ESPN, you're lucky if they mention Minnesota for more than 30 seconds, while on the Big Ten Network, they do quite a few stories on them.

Remember ComCast is a compendium of various cable companies that existed in the Twin Cities years ago. Each had there own deal. In Eagan when we first moved out here it was Westinghouse, then it became someone else. We have probably had at least a Half dozen different names to our cable. We tried to get the game on ESPN Classic, but some other game was broadcast here in the Eagan market. I think next spring when we get back I am going to get a dish. There are pluses and minuses, but I am tired of inconsistency with ComCast.

I live in California and have been an avid gopher fan since I was a kid, my father graduated from Minnesota in the 50's, so I follow them as much as I can. We do not get much coverage on the Gophers out here, always alot on the other teams. Any good publicity for the team can only help the teram and the university. A bowl game this year would be fabulous and a record of 9-3 or even 8 and 4 would be formidable for the league. Go Gophers.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Capricorn

You're in a very generous and kind frame of mind today, and you'll go out of your way to help others if you think they need it. You might donate some money to a good cause or decide that charity begins at home. If you're buying gifts for some of your loved ones it will be difficult to know when to stop, because you could easily get carried away.
