It looks like the Warriors "choke" at the end of the game. Sad ...

Choke special..true. Warriors do nto know how to play in the big time. Mack is a way overpaid minor league coach and the warriors are an average minor leage team. Nothing more.

Bearcat fan here... you guys shut down our QB and the passing game. I'll give you props for that BUT we have one of the best DE's in the country in Connor Barwin. Give him some props too! Our seniors really stepped it up. Good game!
I´ll tell you what they did do... they kept their nose to the grindstone and stayed focused on their objective.

UH got too giddy and big headed with their 3rd quarter success. Once the ball started bouncing the other way, they didn´t know what to do but to keep committing personal fouls.

That was embarrassing...

Everybody just needs to sit back and relax. This was a rebuilding year for the warriors. Heck it could be whorse, we could all be Wa. husky fans. We know how bad they are. We have a completly new offense. Might think how much better Greg A. might be if he played the whole season. We went 7&6 I think thats great with all the changes that took place after last season. But some of you are right, we need to quit playing like puncks and play real football. Five personal fouls for 75 yards is just plain stupied. I hope with any luck the warriors will play with alittle more class in there next game. Keep the faith||

As an ex-local watching the game on TV from the mainland, it was disappointing. Alexander was poised and savvy for 3 quarters (see him standing in to the last second, side-arming a throw at the last second after Medeiros broke to the post). But he looked tired and scared in the 4th; disappointing. He’s proven that it wasn’t just the system that made Colt and Timmy productive. And can the team keep their heads on???!? What’s up with the late hits, cheapshots, temper tantrums, and bonehead penalties that cost us opportunities and give the other team some. That’s just got to be bad coaching. Not x and o’s, but teaching character, sportsmanship, self-discipline, or all else failing… the fact that it is harder to win when you are the most penalized team in the WAC. Go Warriors in the Hawaii Bowl, but gotta clean up their act in 2009 and help Alexander find a heart.

UH Penalties wrote:
Hawaii leads all 120 Division 1-A teams in the nation in number of penalties and yards penalized: 114 penalties for 1028 yards. It is a trend that has continued from the 1st game against Florida to the 13th one against Cincinnati. Being No. 1 in this category is nothing to brag about. In fact, it's very embarassing. There are other areas of UH's game that are also undisciplined. I haven't followed UH really closely this season. But can anyone provide insight on this and it's negative impact?
You make a great point. A lot of people think that the Cincy interception that was returned for a TD in the 4th qtr was the turning point; however, in my opinion, it was the numerous Hawaii penalties that allowed Cincy to stay in the game. There were so many - personal fouls, offensive line moving too soon, etc., etc., etc. All season long - plagued by penalties. And this was never corrected - it never improved over the course of the season. In fact, it seems to have gotten worse.

Yep, O-line is definitely over-rated. Even WSU sacked Alexander 5 times last week, and WSU has one of the worst defenses in the country! Same like last season - o-line got hammered against Georgia. They're too slow off of the snap - especially the tackles. They look too fat, and they got slow feet. A fast DE can easily put the Warrior tackles on their heels.

I gotta give props to Hawaii's defense - they played well.

UH lost this game due to the absolute worst play calling I have ever seen by Ron Lee in the 4th quarter.

I agree. That pitch to the RB in the end zone - that resulted in a safety - was not the smartest call. When your back is against the wall, do what you do best - THROW! When that Warrior running back got the ball, he was 3-4 yards behind the goal line. With the kind of penetration Cincy was getting in the 4th quarter, he didn't have a chance. Hawaii should have thrown it's way out of that end zone to give themselves some breathing room. If nobody's open, then just throw it out of bounds. Punt if you have to, but to get a safety in that critical point in the game was inexcusable. Extremely poor play calling.

Title to the story should be "Hawaii Almost Upsets a Stunned Cincinnati". Way to redeem yourself, Hawaii, after getting dismantled this year by some very good teams. Good showing for the WAC and a strong vote for Boise being in the BCS playoffs.

Yes trying to run out of your endzone is STUPID. that play LOST the game for UH. The D played INCREDIBLE... great game guys, sorry that Ron Lee does NOT know how to call plays.. what a let down

You might start with the O-line coach.

You are overrated. And you were BE champs??? You were manhandled by a bad, no-class team and you had 1 yard of offense way into the 2nd half. I'd say that's overrated. You looked pitiful at times, as did we. We are not overrated because no one expected much from us this year anyway.
Cincinnati may be overrated but far less than last years Hawaii team that had no business being in the BCS. The fact that the Warriors didn't show up in 2008 Sugar Bowl is why Boise is not invited to this years party.
Try being competitive in a decent conference & the real bowls will invite

The moron uh fans chanting "overated" did not make the trip to the Sugar Bowl last new years day when 50,000 georgians chanted "over-rated" to us locals at the game - completely hit the spot since we got our butts kicked - they are the front runner fans on the band wagon who come only when UH wins games and make like they really care
