"I'll give you a few tips on how to stay safe while walking over to Juárez."

Put on a greasy baseball cap with a Cowboy logo, wear baggy pants and cheap tennis shoes, take out your partial plate and don't shave for five days before you go. Wait until after the middle of the month when most have already spent all their welfare checks. In other words, look like you never worked a day in your life and of course like you don't have more than a dollar in your pocket.

El Paso is not only the 2nd safest city in the U.S., but the most friendly. El Paso's hospitality is like no other you will ever come accross. I would say the only fear there is, is putting on the lbs. eating at all of the wonderful new restaurants that have opened up during the past year. There is nothing you could possibly want from Juarez that you couldn't get in El Paso. So you'all come on over.

There are plenty of good mexican food restaurants that have a lot of tradition in El Paso like Dominguez, Avila's, Carlos & Mickeys, Forte's, Carnitas Quretaro, and Jaxons just to name a few of my faves. Come down and you will not regret it unless your team loses, then again, who knows. C-ya!

Thanks for the open letter Jay, but its not going to change their minds. They're using the violence on the border as an excuse. The OU fans on their comment section are just flat out snobs. They think their beloved Sooners are above playing in the Sun Bowl. Those fans need to get their heads out of their @$$es and realize that their record does NOT put them in a position to be looking down their noses at any team, city, or bowl.

Hey, I'm a silver-haired gringo living right near the downtown area in Juarez, Mexico. I have been here for nearly six years.

Is it dangerous here? Yes, it is for some. However, there are well over 1 million people in this city and more than several hundred thousand will NEVER see or touch violence in this city.

Yes, it can be dangerous here but the news media focus only on those affected and not on the hundreds of thousands who live life unaffected.

By the way, I plan to attend the Sun Bowl game as I always do. Go Stanford, go Oklahoma! We want to see a great game.

The last time the Sooners played in the Sun Bowl, a some of their fans had an unfortunate experience in Juarez. A couple fans noted a sign, written in English, on the front of a small store: "Suits,$2.00; Pants,$2.50; Shirts,$2.00". Thinking they could make a killing by reselling the clothes in Oklahoma, they went inside and ordered 50 suits, pants, and shirts.

"You are from Oklahoma!" exclaimed the proprietor.

"How did you know?" they asked.

"Because you are not the first Sooners to place such an order even though I am just a dry cleaner."

I've seen some outright dumb comments and excuses by the OU fans. It doesn't matter though. They're making it easy to decide who to cheer for. It will be a sellout without them. Go Stanford.

Jay,
I sort of wish that you would quit singing El Paso's praises..........my wife and I like it just the way it is. Should too many people find out, then the secret will be out and we will be competing with the rest of the folks to find accommodations, etc.

It's a great spot and we feel very comfortable there...
